Controversial Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Ariz., is no stranger to hardball tactics, so he probably isn't fazed by being on the receiving end of rough politics. Still, that doesn't excuse the Obama administration's apparent ideological vendetta against him.
By the (il)logic of the administration and its allies at the American Civil Liberties Union, Sheriff Arpaio should not set up a phone tip line to search for immigration violators, and he is not allowed to tell the public about federal immigration enforcement policies even if he is merely disputing demonstrable falsehoods told about him; yet the Justice Department can set up an anonymous tip line to gather evidence against the sheriff.
Of course, the administration isn't much worried about consistency. Moral grandstanding is its game, and its intended prize is the scalp of a pestilent sheriff.
Mr. Arpaio is famous as a tough, lock-'em-up lawman who has housed prisoners in tent cities and even made them wear wimpy pink clothing for identification. What really enrages liberals, however, is his arrest of many thousands of illegal immigrants over the years. In 2008, he was sued, by plaintiffs represented by the ACLU, for purported civil rights violations involving ethnic profiling of Latinos in the county. Among the lawsuit's allegations was the claim that the "telephonic hot line" he set up to unearth suspected immigration violations was, by its very nature, sure to generate "false, inaccurate and racially motivated reports about Latino residents."

Sheriff Joe should arrest the entire Obama administration, out them in tent cities with pink jump suits, and feed them fifteen cent meals.
Holder is scum.

Completely agree, and don’t think for a minute Holder isn’t doing Obama’s bidding.
dittos ...
The real problem is Arpaio is looking like he may run for governor of Arizona .... And start enforcing the border at the border.
You can bet if any federal agent crosses into illegal activity Sheriff Joe will do just that.
Joe,
setup a tip line to inform on FEDERAL EMPLOYEES abusing or usurping the rights of Arizona Citizens, arrest all the Federal Agents in your county that cannot Demonstrate which part of the Constitution authorizes them to enforce Federal Law within a Free, Independent, Sovereign State.(there is none other than bribery or counterfeiting) Tent city for all of them. Summon forth the State Militia as guaranteed in the Bill of Rights, to force the Feds to stop usurping the Rights of Arizona as so Stated in the Constitution. Force Obama to issue Presidential Pardons for their Illegal Activities.
If you were Governor this could be done quite easily.
That article is dead on the mark. More SEIU members and more Dem votes, though the votes would be illegal that wouldn’t bother the Rats.
That is the only way the corrupt Chicagoland political thugs know how to operate.
I was pleased this morning with an email from our (R) congressman.
He is FINALLY noticing the problem.
E-Update from Congressman Wally Herger
Northern California News and Events
Federal Lands Becoming a Haven for Illegal Drug Production
Illegal marijuana production is quickly becoming a pervasive problem across the millions of acres of federally-owned lands in our Northern California Congressional District.
In many cases, armed guards roam the area around these marijuana gardens in order to protect their crop. This situation poses a dire threat to the safety of those who innocently venture into our federal forestlands. As federal agencies remain under-resourced to address this threat, I recently sent a letter with several of my colleagues to the House Committee on Natural Resources to request that the Committee hold an oversight hearing. Due to the Natural Resources Committees jurisdiction over the federal land management agencies, an oversight hearing is an important step to bringing marijuana production into the congressional spotlight by allowing agencies to explain their challenges in dealing with this issue and what legislative assistance is needed to help their marijuana eradication efforts.
In addition, I have requested a meeting with the land management agencies as well as the Department of Homeland Security, Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Office of National Drug Control Policy to seek information on coordination efforts between these entities. It is my hope to bring these agencies together in an organized effort to crack down on marijuana gardens on our federal lands as well as the movement of Mexican drug cartels that run them. Furthermore, I will continue to do all I can to ensure that government resources are properly prioritized to allow these agencies to fully address this issue.
Good for Herger, better late than never. That problem is what DOJ should be spending money and resources on.
The Justice Department going after a county sheriff for enforcing FEDERAL law. I have an idea. Let’s get a group of citizens together to sue Holder and Obama for failing to enforce the laws regarding immigration.

Justice Dept. officials posing as reporters at a press conference in order to get around the fact that the Sheriff had an attorney representing him. Prosecutors are not allowed to question a defendant by posing as “reporters”, then refusing to provide ID.
“The most Transparent administration” is transparent in showing us exactly what they are going to do. Turn this country into a socialist/marxist/communist haven.
And pink undies.
That’d work for me. :-)
God what a wonderful idea
Where did you hear that? I watch the Sheriff Joe soap opera nearly every night on channel 3 news....haven't heard that one yet...
