"I disagree with many policies of the Obama administration, but I know that President Barack Obama and [White House Chief of Staff] Rahm Emanuel believe that what they are doing is good for Israel," says Rabbi Asher Lopatin, who for the past 15 years has been the spiritual leader of one of Chicago's most active Jewish communities, the Anshe Shalom Bnai Israel congregation.
"Rahm is a tough guy - and I'm not sure he's the best diplomat," he adds, "but I think that ultimately they think what they are doing is good for Israel."
Emanuel had to leave the community when he began began working in the White House, and later moved his family from Chicago to Washington, but Lopatin still sends them occasional e-mail messages.

He is rabbi of congregation Anshe Sholom B'nai Israel, a Modern Orthodox synagogue in Chicago.received a B.A. in International Relations and Islamic Studies from Boston University, and was awarded a Master of Philosophy from the University of Oxford in Medieval Arabic Thought. He has done doctoral work, also at Oxford , in Islamic Fundamentalist Attitudes Toward Jews. In that connection, he has authored a chapter in Muslim Jewish Relations, titled: "The Uncircumcised Jewish Heart (in Islamic and Qur'anic Thought)." Lopatin won a Rhodes Scholarship, was a Wexner Fellow, a Truman Scholar at Boston University Trustee Scholar

Obama really didn't say jack**** to the Jewish League and others but the liberal jews( must be some of the inbred mutant tribes that got led to Syria, whined about the lovely leaks in Egypt, whined about leving Babylon, then Persia( than G!d for one rottten Amelekite Saul should have killed, and G!d love Queen Esther for her chtzpah) and whining still only eight thousand miles from Eretz Y'srael. I don't understand how my fellow Jews can actually believe a health care plan will help emma and all the rest when they need it.
