WASHINGTON President Barack Obama said Tuesday that home insulation "is sexy," his newest appeal for Congress to pass incentives for homeowners who make their homes more energy efficient.
"Here's what's sexy about it. It saves money," the president said at a Northern Virginia Home Depot store. He was joined at the outlet by members of Congress representing Virginia and labor and business leaders involved in services to lower use of natural resources consumed by homeowners.
Calling insulation the in-thing, Obama's pitch was part of a broader administration push to lower the nation's 10 percent unemployment rate. And it marked the fourth time in less than two weeks that the president has presided over high-profile events that call attention to his efforts to curb joblessness.
Last week, Obama advanced a new spending plan that would provide tax breaks for energy-efficient retrofits in homes. The plan also calls for small business tax cuts and new spending on highway and bridge construction. The administration hasn't put a price tag on the plan, but it could total more than $150 billion.

Compared to what he’s married to, maybe it is sexy to him.

... insulation "is sexy,"Maybe he thinks so. After all, MO appears to be very well (ahem) insulated, if you know what I mean.

How is giving away money to install insulation in people’s houses going to produce good, permanent, well paying jobs? How is it going to make the country more productive and competitive? And why would anyone take this seriously? The guy, his staff and his advisors are absolutely ignorant of how economies work. And the media report it as if it actually had something to do with reality.

Let’s see. I’m unemployed, behind on my mortgage, lost my health insurance, and am struggling to feed my family on limited unemployment insurance.
The last damned thing I’m going to do is head off to Home Depot to take advantage of the $0.29 discount on caulk in the hopes of writing it off my taxes next April. Or, undertake a hugely expensive window replacement campaign.
This idiot doesn’t understand that people need a job to pay for this stuff. They could care less about some nebulous tax break 6 months in the future.
What a stupid bastard!

Agreed!
I think he picks his policies by closing his eyes, rifling through the Yellow Pages, and points.
The randomness of his public intrests serves to make him look busy, and to find another distraction to use in his misdirection of powers.
I guess if "insulation" turns him on, it proves two things:
1) His child-like qualities of simplistic amusement and single-minded narcissicism are in full play, and;
2) His standards for "sexy" are really not that high...right Michelle?

I often wonder who advises him on these things.
Obviously, none of them have ever lived in the “real” world.

Bravo! You just illustrated the utter lunacy of this guy's "plan" as it pertains to every person living out here in the real world!
What a complete and utter fool Obama is...
To: Red in Blue PA
This is about as good as his idea for everyone to properly inflate their car tires to reduce oil dependence.
To: diverteach
Indeed!
With each new “idea” I hear from Obama, I more and more want to see his college transcripts.
Idiot does not begin to describe this guy.
