Let's say that the reason you stop going is that you find out the manager has been putting arsenic in the burgers. Still sending your kid and patting yourself on the back for your fiscal sense?
I understand some folks think that working within the system or some such is the right approach, but IMHO, unless the system is replaced with a system that is 100% free market, efforts to reform the current system, up to and including going after school boards, is like trying to plug the hole in the side of RMS Titanic.

If they are going to teach an overview of “World Religions & Beliefs” then they MUST include Christianity - it’s just that simple. Also, comparative religion as a subject in school should REALLY be left until these children are much older and can evaluate these things with a logical mind. Otherwise, as you said it’s all just part of an agenda. I remember hearing “the reason is because we “all” know about Christianity” - well, obviously that can’t be true if the children must be taught all these other religions... Otherwise, what is the point?
If they are being taught to understand that people in our country/world have different religious traditions what about the non-Christian students in their classes??? Is it wrong for them to learn about Christianity/Christmas??? I think not. What’s good for the goose...
One more thing I’m surprised about in this story... Is the TEACHER being reprimanded for mentioning Christmas? If they are going to suspend the kid for drawing Jesus then they should suspend her for bringing it up! [Not that I think she was wrong in mentioning it, just that if you’re going to make rules you really should stick with it all the way through, right? Did they really expect the subject of Christmas to NOT include depictions of Jesus???]
Your child and their family are the winners in the scenario you paint. Stop paying your taxes and you will eventually be forced to pay for them, with your paycheck, your home, or your freedom... Pull your child out of the school and although you are still paying your taxes, your child will not be subject to the indoctrination...
We do what we can at this point... And homeschooling IS one way to defend against the agitprop within our government schools.
Others may choose to take on every teacher/Principal/School Board, but think of the ramifications to the child... It WILL get back to them in one way or another - a “slighted” teacher WILL make the child “pay” in one way or another (for the most part — I suppose there are a few out there who wouldn’t, but they are probably very few and far in between).
I live in a very rural part of western PA. My two friends both teach at what would be considered “country bumpkin” schools...not exactly a racially or ethnically diverse area, and fairly conservative. I’m willing to put money on it that out of 25 students in each class, at least 24 of would identify themselves as Christians. I would think that the parents would take some issue the fact that Christianity is treated as an oppressive religion in their schools. Unless they don’t even ask their children what they did in school that day. (Any bets?)
I take serious issue with these two friends and their stance on the public school system, while still calling themselves conservative Christians. I have challenged them many times on issues revolving around indoctrination, public school and how it relates to conservatism and their answers are horrifying. I have figured out that they are much more concerned with being their students’ friends than their teacher. They are more apt to impress their administration than encourage and teach the kids. They have their teachers union distribute and correct their lesson plans for “adherence”. And they don’t see anything wrong with it.
