WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Winchester Ammunition was recently awarded a contract by the Immigration, Customs and Enforcement (ICE) division of the Department of Homeland Security to supply a maximum of 200 million, 40 cal. rounds over the next five years.

The load selected for this contract is a 135-grain, hollow point designed for the office of Field Operations of Customs and Border Protection. It will fall under the Winchester Ranger line.

last gun show a couple weeks ago there was plenty of .40 available, and prices have come down from the short supply “gouge”. I picked up some ammo for $15-18 for a box of 50. Brass case, not previously fired.

My son got a great deal on a Springfield SD .40S&W, brand new, for $475. I was jealous.

And there was a lot of case lots of 7.62x39. Something i hadn’t seen for almost a year in that quantity. I picked up some new supply, good price.

I would say the ammo shortage is not so short now except some sporting rifle rounds. Could be the economy has curtailed the stocking up.....

They hold 8 in the mag, and are slim overall, maybe a little slimmer than a 1911.

I don’t know anybody who reloads Tokarev ammo. It’s too cheap in milsurp to bother.

"Nothing says 'good by dirt bag' like a quality hollow point that expands as it does its intended work."

Oh, you silver-tongued romantic devil you!

Yes but the leftist say it's now a bad word... lol...

That may be, but I'm fed up with being politically correct.

The Magic Negro should go back home to Kenya and spread Hope and Chains there.

The thread is partially derailed into cal wars, so I’ll comment.

For your 9mm, look at Hornady Critical Defense rounds. Seriously, they’re for when you want to send the very best.

/NO connection to Hornady here except buying their ammo

Oh that's FUGLY! The cheap plastic commie grip is the worst thing about the CZ-52, but that rubber grip half bootie makes it even worse looking, IMHO.

I sprang for $50 for a set of Hogue hardwood grips, and now that same ugly duckling is a beautiful swan. Red/orange striped Tulipwood, just looks awesome peaking out above my orangish-brown Galco holster.

Mine are not checkered, and the Tulipwood is way prettier with the vertical red/orange stripes, but this pic gives you the idea.

I agree, I like the 10mm much better but I still have a .40. I originally bought it because a friend going to Europe had over 1000 rounds of .40 hollow points he gave me because he couldn’t take them with. With all the police departments and feds going to .40 it may end up being some of the easiest to find ammunition in the future.

It would be funny if, in the event they should use them against Americans trying to take back their county, they should turn out to be blanks.

hiram, fair enough answer, but perhaps what i should have said was i am surprised these politically correct hypocrits would order hollow pt ammo that inflicts greater damage (and likely death as you pointed out)...the way this govt behaves about terrorists i am surprised they are not using nerf bullets against the really bad guys, and saving the hollow points for conservatives

I wish Kel-Tec would make a little carbine for the 7.62X52, to take advantage of the cheap milsurp and the hot caliber.

A real Russian burp gun would cost a fortune, but would be fun too.

Yep, I have plenty of S&B, bought it off of “Cheaper than dirt.”

Also “Wolf Gold” (brass shells) hollowpoints, that expand to .60 the same as my 9mm Golden Sabers that cost 2 or 3 times more.

They are on the CTD website.

It would be even funnier if most of the live ammo wound up being "diverted" to the patriotic elements.
