For the second time Detroit Public Schools Financial Manager Robert Bobb has threatened to bankrupt the school system.
Bobb wants school teachers to agree to a Termination Incentive Plan (TIP) which says each teacher must loan the district $10,000 a year from pre-tax earnings to help eliminate the schools deficit.
DFT President Keith Johnson says if teachers do not agree to the union-generated plan, they face a 10 percent pay cut for five years widening the wage gap between city and suburban teachers. Additionally, teachers may face bankruptcy proceedings that could make a teachers contract void. Many teachers have said they believe Bobb is bluffing.

Arnold did this to the taxpayers in California. An interest free loan from each and every one of them.

Detroit has been a lab experiment of all things socialist for the past 40 years.
I hear you can buy a house there for $1.00...
Yes, ONE DOLLAR.
Now they want the teachers to ‘loan them money???
Hilarious...

I did not know that Detriot even had schools still. But if they do, I envision them as similar to the Thunder Dome: Two men enter, one man leaves. No points for wounding, and to qualify for the bonus round the head must be entirely separated from the body.

For the second time Detroit Public Schools Financial Manager Robert Bobb has threatened to bankrupt the school system. The teacher's union did that a long time ago!

Nobody else is gonna loan Detroit Schools anything. Chances of getting it back are pretty low, I’d say no chance at all. So that’s a de facto 10% cut.

Based on the results of Detroit schools, the teachers should repay $10,000 year, not loan it.

DFT President Keith Johnson says if teachers do not agree to the union-generated plan... So it's the union that came up with the plan for teachers to give up $10k per year?! One can be sure that's in addition to the dues they have to pay as well. Pretty soon the union will get the teachers to the point where they work for free and all the pay goes to the union and government.

The best way to destroy a union is to force them to collect their own money. Mayor Dave Bing is a true democrat but he seems to understand the damage unions are doing to Detroit. At least one union is suing him for refusing to collect union dues from members.

Detroit is civilization in reverse. It is what happens when leftist radicals, democrats, unions, black pathologies and the welfare state combine to stew for 40 years.
It is Obama’s model for the rest of the country.

The best way to destroy a union is to force them to collect their own money. The unions want to force people to vote in the open so they can be intimidated into joining unions but when it comes to the union's "business" they want to keep it all in the dark.

Still no where near enough to get my wife to go work down there to teach, but of course she’s white so I doubt they would hire her anyway...

No no no its a loan that will be paid back... someday... when Detroit Schools have all shut down and no money is left No money is left now, which is why they're trying to take it from the teachers. Anyone who believes they would manage the money any better going forward is too stupid to be walking around in public.

If you force the unions to pass the hat around on payday, they’ll be broke in a year.
