“They are a Church! Churches cannot be expected to accept sin of any kind.”

Quite to the contrary, I understand churches are conducting marriages, funerals for people everyday that they know to be “sinners” since all people are believed by said churches to be sinners.

I further understand churches are to love the sinner, not the sinful deed.

The SA does much good work with homless alcoholics and addicts.

Surely there is some bible passage by which their self-indulgent addictive lifestyles constitute “sin.”

Yet the SA helps them.

The SA helps gay people as well. I don’t see alcoholics or drug addicts trying to pressure the SA into accepting their lifestyles as natural and normal. Do you? The SA helps all sinners but does not condone being an alcoholic, drug user, or homosexual. IOW: They are consistent in their principles and actions.

Of course they do. And they love the sinner, which is why they do those things, as well as helping those afflicted with AIDS, but they are not going to accept any sin, regardless of the sin. It is called spreading the word.

People are called to love sinners, NOT accept their behavior unconditionally. Part of love is telling the truth.
