Back from combat, women struggle for acceptance

Nobody wants to buy them a beer.

Even near military bases, female veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan aren't often offered a drink on the house as a welcome home.

More than 230,000 American women have fought in those recent wars and at least 120 have died doing so, yet the public still doesn't completely understand their contributions on the modern battlefield.

For some, it's a lonely transition as they struggle to find their place.

Yeah, those 16 women killed in action in WWII won the war.

You don’t know my son - while he would never be disrespectful, he would still speak his mind.

Merry Christmas to you Allegra. Laurie is back home after laying her father to rest. Thank you for your prayers while she was traveling and for her family. Our prayers continue for you and all those who continue to be in harms way.

If it were up to me, they wouldn’t be anywhere near action.

It's not up to you. In my case, for example, it's up to me.

That's what freedom is all about.

I detest the little demi-gods created by the media who wish to inflict their own opinions upon the rest of us in the form of restrictions. How very leftist.

Why didn’t you speak up about it? If you felt it caused problems and it was verified she would have stopped after the first man she bunked with by a superior.

“You don’t know my son - while he would never be disrespectful, he would still speak his mind.”

Nothing against your son, I’m sure he’s great. Speaking your mind doesn’t get you far in today’s PC military.

Thats why that guy in Ft Hood was allowed to do what he did. People were afraid to speak their minds.

Why are you attacking me?

Merry Christmas to you and your family, SD.

I'm glad Laurie got back safely and she continues to be in my prayers for comfort and peace.

You are the one on this thread making claims that women serving in the military causes problems. I ask you how or why you didn’t speak up about it and now I’m attacking you?

“So you’re ok with a woman going bunk to bunk with 20 marines in one evening?”

Well, if a country is base enough to send its women to be killed, maimed, or raped by the enemy...

I mean, what did they expect when sending in females, no sex? Only “moral” sex?

Women do not belong anywhere near a battlefield, period.

I’m confused. Where did I post that women have served in “combat roles”? Seems to me what I stated is that women have been in/on the front lines - not exactly the same as claiming they were there as part of a military combat unit.

Yeah, I understand. He’s not yet made his next rank in part to the fact that he tends to speak his mind, albeit respectfully.

“You are the one on this thread making claims that women serving in the military causes problems.”

I’m one of the people stating that.

“I ask you how or why you didn’t speak up about it and now I’m attacking you?”

yes, you keep asking me questions. Throw in an assumption on why I didn’t speak up about a situation. You have zero knowledge about the circumstance but feel its appropriate to question me and my integrity. Did you serve? You’ve obviously got the PC part down.

“Women do not belong anywhere near a battlefield, period’

careful, there are quite a few PC lovers on this thread that will attack you for that.

If you felt it was a danger to the “mission” why didn’t you speak up about it?

Call it “leftist”, call it “sexist”, whatever you want, you won’t change my mind about it.

so it’s impossible to disagree with that opinion without being PC?

The first post was #13 “ Regardless of whether women had arms or were just providing medical treatment to the wounded on the front lines, woman have been “in combat” in most modern wars.”

Women have been in the military for all of our wars in various capacities. Until recently their roles were limited to support roles and were far from combat. Today they are riding Humvees into combat.

Impossible? no, but so far the only reason I’ve seen for having women in combat is because they are already there.

Having been ‘there’ I know its not for the mission.
