I don’t travel in liberal circles much, so last night was a real eye-opener as to how much this country is in deep doo-doo. I went to my brother’s house (Marin County, CA) for our family’s annual Dungeness crab feast. It’s no secret in my family that my political position is hard starboard at flank speed, so out of deference to the occasion I made a personal vow not to steer the conversation to current events. Alas, my best intentions were scuttled by my brother’s neighbor lady let slip a snarky comment about Sarah Palin not believing in global warming.

I quickly asked her if she had seen the “climategate emails,” and she had NO CLUE what I was talking about. This woman has a daughter in university and is employed as a professional by Marin County. It’s interesting to note that earlier in the evening she disclosed that she had spent several hours at Borders sipping coffee and reading “trash” magazines for free. She was fully versed on Tiger Woods.

In light of my vow, I let it drop – until we left the dinner table. I took her aside and diplomatically asked if she was familiar with the axiom, “Follow the money.” She said she was, and I asked her what she thought about “cap and trade.” My jaw almost hit the floor when she revealed that she had NEVER HEARD OF IT!!! I gave her a very quick encapsulation of the scheme to trade “air” as a commodity and the people who stood to benefit from it.

Then we got to Sarah Palin…

This was as the party was breaking up and we were headed for the door, so it was quick. Her position was that she did not like Sarah. I asked her why, and she said, “I don’t know, I just don’t like her.” So I asked her if it was like “feminine intuition or something like that,” and she agreed that was the case. So I asked her again, “surely you must have a reason for disliking her?” Her reply was something to the effect of a statement that Sarah had made about Bristol’s pregnancy. I said I wasn’t familiar with what she was alluding to, but I did ask her if she had heard Sarah say that “she could see Russia from her backyard,” to which she quickly agreed that she had. I pointed out that it was actually Tina Fey who had uttered that famous quote.

To make a long story short, I suggested that she needed to do her “research,” and told her that the internet had newspapers from all over the world for free. “Oh, like the New York Times,” she said. I hinted that the NYT might be slightly biased, and suggested for a start that she check the BBC (I didn’t want her head to explode) and the Washington Times. She honestly seemed interested in my suggestion, however her parting shot was,

“I won’t change, I’m a social worker, you know.”

God help us!

Rant mode – off.

"My dinner with a brainless liberal last night."

Which one? They're all brainless.

First of all, you can't argue with liberal idiots...they have one-track minds and their entire judgement system is based on "feelings", not logic.

Narcissism is their trademark, and something for nothing is their quest in life.

They lift each other to great heights of self-importance and elitism, and you will NEVER be quite as good as they are...doesn't matter what you do, short of joining the "Ya-Ya Brotherhood of mind-numbed obamabots", you exist only to feed the tax coffers which leads them to Utopia.

Next time, turn down the invitation...

I can relate to your suffering, with my own crew of truly demented liberal in-laws.

All totally programmed by CNN, MSNBC, CBS and the NY Times.

She thinks she knows on which side her bread is buttered. She failed to notice that in reality there is no butter actually there.

My husband has cousins who were born and raised in Walnut Creek CA. We do not visit. One of them comes to Texas occasionally, we don’t talk politics. One of them has told me to never contact him again, he he! Just the results I was after.

I thought you said she was a “professional”. But then there is little difference between sexual worker and social worker. Three letters by my count!

This is what I have come to learn. Liberals are deeply religious people. They hold a deep, deep abiding faith. They hold an almost unshakable belief in global warming and in government doing “honest” good through redistributing your wealth. They fully believe that, left to individuals, they are not “caring enough”, or “smart enough” to make what they hold as the right decisions. Therefore someone else (liberals) should be in charge of doing it for you. For the good of humanity. That is their faith.

It is a type of faith that they hold to the point of being completely enslaved into dogma. To be a true believer you have to wholly submit and subscribe to the groupthink, and anyone who dares stray from their strict dogma are heretics, fools, and worthy of burning at the stake for their error.

Liberals are some of the most intolerant people you will ever run across. If you don’t subscribe to their faith their group will circle the wagons and actively seek to expunge you and crush you to prevent a possible spreading defection of their clan that truth and light could bring.

If you view this in a dispassionate way you can clearly see how totally taken over these people are. They cannot defend their beliefs with any measure of fact. They hate Sarah Palin, because others hate her and so they feel this is the right response for them even they have no way of justifying it. This is exactly how liberals work. And that is exactly how their whole faith-based system works, from globull warming to socialism.

I quickly asked her if she had seen the “climategate emails,” and she had NO CLUE what I was talking about.... I asked her what she thought about “cap and trade.” My jaw almost hit the floor when she revealed that she had NEVER HEARD OF IT!!!

But if you asked her about Global Warming, I guarantee that she would say "we have to do something."

Her position was that she did not like Sarah. I asked her why, and she said, “I don’t know, I just don’t like her.”... So I asked her again, “surely you must have a reason for disliking her?”...I did ask her if she had heard Sarah say that “she could see Russia from her backyard,” to which she quickly agreed that she had.

*facepalm* This is a person who believes exactly what the culture wants her to believe.

Illinois here....your experience is an everyday occurrence here. Democrat sheeple everywhere. Discussions usually break down to “All politicians are bad. But Democrats are for the common man and Republicans are for the rich. At least we get ours with Dems in power.” Sometimes I feel like my head will explode....So lately I just say I’m not a Republican, I’m a conservative and a Constitutionalist. But those concepts are way over their heads.....

I had a Sister-in-law inform me over T’day holiday that she out-and-out hates Sarah Palin. She adds, “I really want to see that Levi Johnston really bring her down. He’s got something [sic].”

I guess my SIL really hates Bristol and her baby, too....

Hearty congrats on your persistence and efforts.

Here in CT we have to ban politics from Thanksgiving & other family get togethers. I can barely stand it - my sister-in-law campaigned for Obama and have his PORTRAIT in their home. Maybe a few years of her working in the UK warped her US identity.

Good thing The Telegraph (of England) wasn't mentioned.
Some of their exposes would not just make the lady's head explode.
Her whole body might just go up in one bright flash of spontaneous combustion.

It was The Telegraph (in it's early Internet version) that kept
many folks in the USA actually informed on what Bill Clinton
was doing to us.

(Which now almost fades into the background, given the machinations
of Obama and His Chicago Gang.)

I've walked away from conversations because it's just so hopeless. The top three quotes by dumb liberals right to my face, that I had to walk away from:

  1. "I thought the story for The Da Vinci Code was dopey, but I loved learning all that history."
  2. "I really don't see any bias on MSNBC."
  3. "I've never even met anybody as smart as Barrack Obama."

All actual quotes from actual liberals I know. You can't fix people who say such things. Save your breath.

A co-worker friend of mine repeated, on various occasions, that Sarah Palin "scares" him. I let it go for several months, and finally I asked why. He couldn't give me a good answer, except something about her lack of experience. I then replied, "So you're OK with Obama's lack of experience, but Palin's lack of experience scares you? That makes no sense." He acknowledged my point and dropped the subject.

There's probably something else there that he doesn't want to admit to, I just don't know what...Maybe he thinks she can't govern because she's pretty, or because she's from Alaska, or because she's folksy, or pro-life...who knows.
