Decades ago, there would have been no gay or lesbian in high offices like mayors in Texas.
This is how the people of Houston have become halfheartedly cold towards our Lord Jesus Christ. They have spat in his face.
Wot, Jesus hates fags? I do love Christians who think that since God is Love, they have to do His hatin’ for Him.
Considering Ms. Parker’s oppenent was another flaming liberal, what difference would it have made had that person won?
GUILTY - on BOTH counts!
How about the title in the title?
Texas city elects openly gay mayor
Why does gay/normal matter? What matters is if the person is sensible in the head, or a raving liberal. I would not vote for a raving liberal no matter who he/she/it sleeps with.
Where in the world did you ever hear that Houston is conservative??? Or Texas inparticular??
Houston is very liberal.
There is a coalition that can elect such people. Break down the demographics of those supporting her.
Who gives an Obama about whether or not she’s gay? That should not even be a headline. Only weak-minded “journalists” with a mind-spectrum consisting of two colors would give a care.
Now, if she’s a liberal, I f*rt in her general direction. And if she’s a lib, she’ll f*art in the general direction of Houston.
They’ll soon learn.
When you bring Barney Franks in to fund raise, you have made it an issue.
This is not a historical moment, but is rather more a hysterical moment. Kathy Whitmire elected as Mayor of Houston in the 90’s was a member of Houston’s LGB elitist league. The libs are just hysterical that they won something in the face of what they know is to come.
She apparently has been in city government for a long time and her opponent was black at a time when Obama’s popularity is in the dumps. I’m not claiming cause and effect but race probably did play a part.
Whoa. How could a city in one of America’s conservative southern states ever elect an open lesbian, Annise Parker, as mayor of Houston?
Haven’t been around Houston in say the last 10 years have you?
My understanding is that this woman has been involved and influential in city politics for many years, earned her stripes, so to speak, so her political credentials were more important than her lifestyle to voters. And she had an opponent who was even worse.
Keep in mind that there are pockets in every governmental jurisdiction that go against the norm. Inner city Houston isn’t the same demographically or politically as its suburbs or as the rest of the state.
Remember that Houston also gave us Sheila Jackson Lee. Enough said?
To Myknowledge
Amen to that...Homosexuality is an unclean spirit and a very strong one at that.....There is deliverance.....My brother has become so possessed through witchcraft (he hates Christians with a passion) that I had to cut off contact with him......You literally cannot have a conversation with him without him preaching about darkness (he professes to have sexual relations in the spirit with different entities, and speaks with them as you and I would converse).....I pray for him everyday.....The Word said to come out from among them, but it is particularly difficult when it happens to be family you love......I really believe as I have said before, that there has to be a divine purpose to what is happening in the world......Prophecy is being fulfilled very quickly....How could America actually elect and celebrate an openly gay politician?......
I live north of Houston, but only for a couple of years.
Maybe the fact that Parker was gay was well known to the long term resident but it isn’t like she wears rainbow lapel ribbons.
As far as I know she ran an honest campaign based on past performance and issues. Locke did not.
And as far as I know, Parker didn’t make homosexuality a part of her campaign.
Maybe, just maybe she can do the job as she has been as comptroller without doing it as the gay mayor, just the mayor?
