Bush better than Obama on Aids in Africa

Gregg Gonsalves, a leading US anti-Aids campaigner, warned an audience in New York last week, “I am about to say something shocking: I miss George W Bush.”
Of course a welfare recipient would miss the guy doling out the cash.
Nevermind that the cash being doled out was U.S. taxpayer money.
Thanks a lot for all your Big Government spending, RINO Bush!

I didn’t agree with spending that money at all but I believe Bush’s motives were truly honorable while Obambi would see it as a political opportunity.

I agree that charity is not the role of our govt. It should remain with the charitable people of our Christian nation who give so willingly to those in need, and do so much more efficiently than the any govt.

As a matter of foreign policy, I think its debatable whether providing foreign aid in the form of Aids prevention/treatment is in the best interest of our nation or not. We do many things “as a nation” to further our interests abroad. One can debate the merits of each and every one, from military aid to Israel to disaster relief in Asia or Africa. The good will we might get sometimes comes back in ways not often thought of, such as forward basing of our folks engaged in the hunt for AlQaida, or willingness to open trade markets.

Of course, since it all comes from the peoples treasury, such investments should never be made frivolously or without justification to the people.

I feel real bad for everyone who has AIDS or is starving to death in Africa but it’s not the governments place to be an international charity. irregardless of our MASSIVE DEBT.

Slash taxes and people will have more to give to charity if they so wish.

Africa needs to start overthrowing it’s corrupt, oppressive ,and backward governments and need to start believing the truth about condoms, they don’t make it fall off so a witch doctor can come and steal it for his magic stew.

We can’t do that for them. Until they do it people will continue to starve and get AIDS no matter how much money we toss at them. Sad and true.

As for the overall subject of "helping those poor Africans", the poor Africans are simply going to have to help themselves, and if they can't (or won't) and end up extinct, it is just another demonstration of Darwin at work.
