Thai security forces seized more than 35 tonnes of arms from a cargo plane and arrested five crew members after the aircraft made an emergency landing to refuel at a Bangkok airport, officials said on Saturday.
Monthon Sutchukorn, a deputy spokesman for the Thai air force, said the plane had departed from North Korea but had no further details.
An air force official involved in the inspection, who declined to be named, said the Thai authorities had been asked by the United States to investigate the plane and its cargo.
"We were approached by the United States, seeking our cooperation to examine the suspected plane. It came from North Korea and was heading for somewhere in South Asia, probably Pakistan," the official told Reuters.
Local media said four of the crew members were from Kazakhstan and one from Belarus

I’m sure there’s some perfectly innocent explanation for this.
Time for North Korea to make some news again.
Maybe its time to just nuke North Korea off the planet.
Boy! Those naughty NoKo’s are in for a strongly worded letter for sure...
I wonder how their currency devaluation is working out..
It doesn’t seem to be making news lately. It could be a microcosm of where the left is taking us.
Doesn’t this make North Korea clearly implicated in the War on Terrorism (which is still going on despite Obamao’s declaration that it isn’t)?
If so, doesn’t this make the “just war” that Bambi just finished speaking about include war against North Korea????
Of course not as long as Bambi is running things......
just askin....
You mean the Kenyan's 'overseas contingency operations'.
.....Im sure theres some perfectly innocent explanation for this.....
Certainly...... The CIA bribed the crew
Is that what he called them?
Just seems this is clear proof that North Korea is actively contributing to the death of American soldiers in the War on Terror going on in Afghanistan that Zero just declared to be a “just war.”
Having said thus, seems to me that “just war” would now include a military response to North Korea.....
(in a sane world...)
Exactly. No way is the NK government/military so hard up for cash that they can't put enough fuel in a plane full of secret arms cargo to get it to its destination.
And I imagine it didn't cost must to bribe the Kazakh and Belarussian crew members. A few bottles of vodka probably did the trick.
It's very interesting, though, that this plane was using Kazakh and Belarussian crew. Presumably this is an indication that NK doesn't have any pilots who they trust -- either to get the cargo to its destination or to come home again afterwards instead of signing up as CIA helpers. But you'd think the receiving country (Pakistan or any other) could have come up with its own pilots for a mission like this. Or maybe Kazakhstan or Belarus was the receiving country and misjudged the loyalty of the best pilots/crew they could come up with. Either way, it's a good sign.
Not necessarily. The barrier to a US military action against the NK government has long been the unwillingness of China and SK to go along with it. And China certainly has the military and economic strength to object in some very unpleasant ways. The trouble is that suddenly knocking down the NK government would result in a huge and immediate swarm of North Koreans into China and SK, causing major problems for both those countries. There’s just no infrastructure at all in NK, so absolutely no reason for anyone to stay — they’ll just run for it because they desperately need to find food.
Yes of course Communist China has been a deterring factor in taking military action against N. Korea which would NEVER even be discussed under Bambi’s administration.
Millions of South Koreans would welcome an overthrow of the North Korean slave / insane government....whether from inside or outside of N. Korea.
A weekend Gun and Knife show?
It wasn’t discussed in the Bush administration either. It’s not a viable option until China is on board — at which point China will be happy to do the job itself. South Koreans don’t want millions of starving, unemployable North Koreans pouring unto their country, any more than Floridians want the entire population of Cuba pouring in. If South Korea was prepared to deal with the needs of
North Korea’s population, China wouldn’t object to a military action against the NK government, because the North Koreans would all pour into South Korea.
What?
And lose all that very cheep labor?
Man, you can’t believe what you can get those folks to do for a buck or two.
