Daily Presidential Tracking Poll (-16!)
Rasmussen Reports ^ | December 12, 2009 | Rasmussen

Posted on 12/12/2009 6:34:23 AM PST by Scanian

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 25% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -16. That’s the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President (see trends).

The 25% who Strongly Approve matches the lowest level of enthusiasm yet recorded. That’s partly the result of declining enthusiasm among Democrats. While Democrats continue to offer their approval, just 43% Strongly Approve.

Among all voters, 36% now believe that the president is doing a good or an excellent job handling the economy while 45% rate his performance in this area as poor. Seventy-one percent (71%) of Democrats say he’s doing a good or excellent job on the economy while 74% of Republicans say poor. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 52% give the President poor marks when it comes to the economy.

On national security matters, 39% rate the president’s performance as good or excellent while 36% say poor. Most voters nationwide lack confidence that NATO will do its part to help in Afghanistan. The President’s new plan for Afghanistan draws mixed reviews from voters.

Check out our review of the week’s key polls to see “What They Told Us.”

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates are also available on Twitter and Facebook.

Overall, 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) disapprove.

That’s the kicker. The 41% disapproval figure is not simply disapproval, but STRONG disapproval.

Yes: his approval is increasingly lukewarm, while his disapproval is hot. It's the strong disapprovers who openly criticize him, while the strong approvers defend. Outside of black circles and radical Leftists, he does not have many strong defenders.

I wish these guys would overlay all the other presidents’ numbers on these graphs. Or normalize them to Carter!

That chart doesn’t make sense. There is a line for the green and for the yellow, but not for the red.

This is called a "stacked chart."

It is good for showing data which adds up to 100%.

The data is not represented by the lines, but by the colors.

You can see the Red disapproval grow, and the green approval and yellow undecided shrink.

Think of it as looking at a pie chart over time.

LOL. See my response to Texas Fossil in 119!

Actually, I think there is a "combo" poll that adds together a bunch of different polls...which is what CRU was doing. I think that's a useless stat too!

Obama and the next three POTUS will be one termers, all undermind by the economy and war. Many Americans do not realize that the WOT is an intermittent war that will last decades, costing us blood and mainly money, at a time when the country is reeling from a major financial meltdown.
No POTUS/Congress will do the right thing, letting the financial institutions and toxic assets drop to their true low prices so people with money on the sidelines will swoop in and buy them, thus triggering a recovery quickly. Doing the right thing comes with a political price, unemployment temporarily must go higher. The party in power will lose during that process, because the opposition will take advantage of the suffering to win.
Since no politician will do that, thus the Fed goes to Plan B, print and spend our way out of debt via inflation. this means our recession/unemployment will continue. Even a leftist POTUS like Obama learns that he cannot abandon the WOT. Forced by strategic necessity to fight overseas WOT and unable to restart the economy will kill off any second term for any future POTUS because the financial situation and strategic demands of WOT has locked their fates.
Obama is the first of many POTUS to follow to be the victim of this circumstance.

Aside from this nice graph provided by houeto here, which if you extrapolate shows that BHO has approached Clinton’s early unpopularity and is below Carter’s, which plunged later and caused his one term presidency:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2287204/posts?page=163#163

I found this interesting page on Gallup:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/116677/presidential-approval-ratings-gallup-historical-statistics-trends.aspx#2

And this from the WSJ:
http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/info-presapp0605-31.html

And this that bases its data on Gallup - shows Carter higher than zero at the same time in his presidency:

You’ve got to believe that his core of strongly approve is made up of a larger percentage of African Americans. Now that the Congressional Black Caucus is going after him, those people could drop off significantly.

No POTUS/Congress will do the right thing,
++++++++++++++++

It may be one thing to not do the right thing, as you opine, but to do wrong, wrong, WRONG and HORRIBLE things, makes this president a train wreck DISASTER with an 18 wheeler full of toxic gas near an elementary school - whereas McCain may have only been a car accident that we all tried to prevent by honking our horns at.

I sent a negative article on Obama to my sister, a Florida lib, her response was, “so what, it isn’t George Bush”...I could send you stuff about him”. What is with these people? So I told her to send me all the negative Bush stuff she wants, it doesn’t matter as he is gone. Wake up fools!

It’s pretty clear that Obama’s fall in popularity is causing increased atmospheric CO2. If you plot the CO2 increase during his term, you’ll see that as his popularity decreases, the amount of atmospheric CO2 increases.

We’ll see. Earlier in the week i posted that i thought his floor would be about 23-24%, with half of those being AA.

Also earlier in the week, someone posted stats that showed he has fallen with every group except for the AAs, where he was plus one since inauguration day.

I’m not so quick to believe that the rank and file is going to abandon him until they see water coming in through the hull.
