What chapter? Are you talking about G-d sending messengers ahead of Moses to kill him at the inn? Where his wife circumcizes Moses’ first born son as a blood offering to save Moses’ life?

One son was already circumcised, as per His commandment. Moses probably knew the grief he received from that first episode and didn't follow through with his other son. God had chosen Moses to lead all of Israel out of bondage and to have the "leader" be a scofflaw just would not do. God knew He wouldn't have to off Moses......but the symbolism was powerful enough. Just my two cents....and I'm no Biblical scholar.
