The way I think about the fossil records and the geological record is this: I think the fossils are evidence of age and time passing with the rise and extinction of animals.

Adam and Eve may or may not have been created with navels, but I bet they weren’t created with scars from old wounds.

The navel is the remnant of the umbilical cord. Not only would Adam and Eve not have needed one, but neither would there first five children who were conceived and then born in a matter of minutes on the Sixth Day of Creation. The nine month gestation period which calls for the umbilical cord was a punishment for Eve's sin.

However, the important point is that we believe in the Creator.

I can't agree if you're trying to siphon all factual/historical accuracy out of Genesis and turn it into a purely "religious" work as so many do.
