A chemistry student in the Ukraine was found dead with his jaw blown off by what is believed to be exploding chewing gum, according to reports.
The 25-year-old's disfigured remains were discovered at his parent's home in the northern Ukrainian city of Konotop, reports in the Eastern European country said.
The young man, who studied at Kiev Polytechnic Institute, was working at a computer late on Saturday when the alleged explosion happened.

Darwin almost scored a win.
It was, apparently, not a prank but a mistake!
photos?
Bit off more than he could chew?
Bet it was

I got thrown out o chem lab in college for making this stuff. When wet pack it into a lock if you are stupid enough. A real flash bang
Super Jawbreaker.
You can paint it on door frames too. ;-)
Dang... I hate gum chewing, and most of the time I want to slap the gum-chewers upside their bovine heads, but deadly exploding gum? Although for some obnoxious @$$holes, it might be considered poetic justice.
Secret ingredient: C-4.
I hear that’s how Bazooka Joe lost his eye.
Citric acid is white while Nitrogen Trioxide is almost black. You would think he would notice the difference. Even dipping his gum into it would probably set it off.
Something is fishy about this story.
Is this the stuff that makes the little purple mushroom clouds when dropped from the third floor of the dorm by the CHEM-E majors?
I heard on the radio that he was a computer major. Maybe he hacked into something he wasn’t supposed to, and was visited by the RVS.
That can happen. My friend was bleeding his brakes into an empty beer bottle while at the same time drinking a beer of the same brand. Well, you can guess what happened. He was in the hospital for three days.
Or produce and ankle high purple fog bank if you sprinkle it down a hall while it is wet and someone walks on it after it dries? Yes.
***The student apparently had a bizarre habit of chewing gum after dipping it into citric acid, Russian news agency Ria Novosti said.
Officers found both citric acid packets and a similar-looking unidentified substance, believed to be some kind of explosive material, on a table near the body, the agency continued.
Investigators suspect that the student simply confused the packets and put gum covered with explosive material into his mouth.***
Over time, smoking can kill you. For instant results, chew gum!
When I was a college freshman, my roommate painted it on commode seats, which were black, in a bathroom that was for upperclassmen only. One night it paid off with a muffled bang and a scream of “Those little bastards!!”
;^)
Man, thats a jaw dropping story.
The Mythbusters got the extra large jawbreakers to explode after heating them in the microwave. It was a deadly explosion.
