Adult-Themed ‘Frosty’ Videos Stir Outrage [CBS' Descent Into Vulgarity For Kids!]

Adult-Themed ‘Frosty’ Videos Stir Outrage CBS melds iconic cartoon clips with risque quotes from sitcoms

Tues., Dec . 8, 2009

Jolly Frosty the Snowman bragging about his porn collection, discussing breast size and bullwhips, and then soaring off in Santa's sleigh announcing that he's off to an execution?

CBS promotions staff apparently thought that two mashups of the iconic cartoon character spliced to look as if he were uttering adult lines from "How I Met Your Mother" and "Two and a Half Men" were just harmless fun.

But the resulting videos, available on CBS' Web site and on YouTube, have caused no end of holiday consternation.

The Boston Herald dubbed the videos “Frosty the Perv.”

“Yes, the trailers are funny, in a “South Park”-this-feels-so-wrong way,” wrote Herald columnist Lauren Beckham Falcone. “But it’s not going to be amusing when some fourth-grader Googling Frosty gets schooled on everything from porn to prostitutes. That these Web trailers are sanctioned by CBS is incomprehensible.”

One viewer wrote on CBS.com, "I loved Frosty and I loved 'How I Met Your Mother.' I do not like them together at all. Frosty is for my child. 'How I Met Your Mother' is not. You just lost a viewer. Disgusting."

I maintain that they want kids to be sluts and will legalize younger ages within the next ten years. I’ve noticed the groundwork for some time.

I'm certainly not a prude, I'm a single Gen-X guy. But from my memory of the 80s, primetime TV shows didn't talk about porn, bullwhips, homosexuality or anything else close to that crap.

Some of the most successful primetime TV shows when I was a kid had cartoon violence, i.e., The A Team and Knight Rider!

You want really disturbing ? Check out the Frank Booth/Blue Velvet dialogue dubbed over the Peanuts characters on YouTube.

It makes you wonder what kind of parents these people are if they promote this kind of crap.

This wasn’t shown on broadcast TV, a fact which O’reilly and most of the other outraged citizens seemed to miss.

When I was a kid, the cartoons were for the kids.

Now, the cartoons (South Park) are for the adults.

This must only be possible because See BS owns the rights to both Frosty and the naughty flicks. If somebody else owned Frosty you can bet they would be suing See BS for debauching said cartoon character.

My tv died 5 years ago and I have not replaced it.... I probably would have shot it by now if it hadn’t passed on its own. TV sucks....

“Now, the cartoons (South Park) are for the adults.”

That’s because a very large number of adults are still children

Not on broadcast TV? So what? Do you know any kid that don’t have access to a computer? I sure a hell don’t. In fact kids spend WAY more time on the computer then they do watching TV.

Maybe I am too paranoid but I noticed a lot of lines were cut out of the Charlie Brown Christmas on ABC last night. Obviously they needed to shorten it to fit in more commercials. But among the scenes they cut out were Sally Brown’s very funny “All I want is what I have coming to me. All I want is my fair share!” LOL. As I say, maybe my conservative distrust of the media goes too far but I had to wonder did they think this was somehow promoting selfishness among kids, so they edited that part out. Hmmm.

“Brave New World”

Casual sex is a third popular way to spend spare time. Since “everybody belongs to everyone else,” commitment is a non-issue.

Apparently you don’t know this, but there’s a lot of stuff on the internet worse than frosty with dialog from old TV shows.

This wasn’t on TV, except the clips O’reilly showed to express his mock outrage.
