You have risen above the dysfunctional sub-culture because, according to your home page, you “believe strongly in the doctrine of “American Exceptionalism”.”

You know that there is a wide disparity between the belief systems of those who love this country, and those who disrespect it.

I am not very optimistic for the next generation. The parents of many current gang members are themselves gang members, and I suspect that many children of today’s gang members will also be gang, as we head into the third (or fourth) generation of that culture.

It will be difficult to change the belief systems of an entire generation as long as leftists are able to indoctrinate them via the public school system, and peer pressure makes it that much harder to go against the grain.

Media that glorify that lifestyle isn’t helping either, nor is a potus who is a role model for many who continuously badmouths this society and country.

... sigh ... I am equally pessimistic about the the future prospects of children reared around gang culture. They're at the effect of a self-perpetuating cycle of death, and the only way to help them, is to remove them completely from that environment. How can you do that for millions of kids?

I decided to permanently disconnect from that community when I was about 28, and have never gone back. Basically, I returned to the culture that I was brought up in, which is mainstream America. My kids know next to nothing about life in "the hood", and I honestly don't think that I've diminished the quality of their life experience one iota by raising them outside of it.

Absolutely correct. It's a vicious cycle that will only be undone by a massive, wholesale shift of the entire culture, which is what all of us here are working towards. Only when we've beaten leftism to a bloody pulp, will conditions truly change in the barrios and ghettos of America.
