CBS is canceling the soap opera "As the World Turns" after more than a half-century on the air.
CBS says the final episode will air next September, in its 54th year. Daytime dramas have been in a long-term ratings decline, and CBS ended the daytime soap "Guiding Light" earlier this year.

The cancellation will leave CBS with only two daytime dramas: "The Young and the Restless" and "Bold and Beautiful."

It's getting bad for SeeBS when people won't watch their daytime drivel.
Feminism killed the soaps..............
For your information: Your nitwork buddies just took another hit on their quality programming.
The Soap that was interrupted by CBS when Kennedy was shot.
Just think how CBS will have reduced their carbon footprint by cancelling these two (stupid, makework) soaps.
....and was replaced with “How the World was destroyed” hosted by yours truly,
BHO
To be replaced by yet another “judge” show or another Jerry Springer I suppose.
It’s getting harder and harder for young actors now. Soaps were traditionally how they learned their chops.
women on TBATB are HOTT!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, no kiddin’. And the prime advertisers are ‘ambulance chasers’ and ‘car title’ places.
My 83 yr. old aunt is going to be devastated.
One less hour clogging up my DVR everyday at the behest of my wife.
I like the whocanisue.com ads. /s
They could reduce it further if they would just stop broadcasting period. lol (but i am serious)
The good news is that they are extending The Price Is Right to a 4 hour long show!
To tell the truth, I’ve never, ever watched a soap opera in my life. But I get the impression that they have degenerated over the years, from family and neighbor shows to sexual degenerate shows.
So it’s not surprising that something that started off with the title “Guiding Light” (now what would THAT mean?) was the first to go.
Then “As the World Turns.”
So they’re left with “The Young and the Restless” and “Bold and Beautiful.”
I’m just going by the titles, but it seems obvious which way they’re moving, desperately trying to keep a young audience that might sell a few ads.
Most of the garbage on the evening news rivals any soap in sleazy content. Throw in a bunch of cheap “reality” shows, and why would a network air soaps? They have the content at a fraction of the cost.
For my wife it’s General Hospital! :)
If you knew her, you’d be surprised to know she watched a soap.
Oh man, I hope NBC doesn’t cancel Days!
