Allahpundit has this in the headlines, and its worth having the audio up here to catch the heavy qualifications Sarah Palin gives Lars Larson in this radio interview from last week. Larson asks whether shed be willing to launch an independent run for the presidency if Palin was dissatisfied with the GOP, and while she didnt say no, the conditions she lays down to remain within the Republican Party seem rather easy to meet (via The Right Scoop):

“I swear to God some freepers are as functionally illiterate ad DU posters!”
You forget “and bad spelers”.
Did you vote for Perot?
I don't think you have to worry about making the hard choice. Your mind is already made up that you'll vote for Palin if she is the GOP candidate, and if not, then whomever the GOP nominates.
You don't have any special fondness for Palin or for her supporters, you're not one of them and that is fine.
I don't know if there is anything inherently wrong with being a GOP Firster but I sure wouldn't want my sister to date one.
Republican Scozzafava Endorses Democrat After Exiting N.Y. ...
Not presidential but certainly got money from RNC.
She better not Perot the ticket. Obama will be highly beatable in 12, but if 10% of the populace goes to a 3rd party conservative he’ll win.
Yep. Us bad speelers. LOL
“Your mind is already made up that you’ll vote for Palin if she is the GOP candidate, and if not, then whomever the GOP nominates.’
Well, I’m not voting for Perot-2. If Palin gets the nod I’ll vote for her, if she doesn’t then I’ll support the candidate the consensus of the Conservtive/GOP elect nominates.
I haven’t decided yet who I’ll support in the primary. Palin hasn’t filled me with confidence but she has 2 years to turn that around.
And no, I’m not impressed with book sales, slobbering sycophants or a candidate who talks in bumper sticker jingoisms and tries to say all the right things at all the right times to placate the mob.
I don’t believe in political messiahs, they always end up letting you down in a moment of splendiferous pyrotechnics.
Like resigning from office.
Nah. He went nuts late in the campaign or I probablly would have.
Perot did not bring us Clinton, the GOP did.
Blaming the voters for not electing Dole is like blaming the consumer for the Gremlin and Pacer and Studebaker going out fo production.
Where is that candidate that is like the mustang or camaro or even taurus?
Why do we keep getting the pintos and citations and cimmarons tossed at us then get blamed for their lack of success?
You’d think that the GOP would understand some basic business and marketing principles.
I don’t why you are so exasperated and impatient with me. Politics is a tough and hard business. There is nothing easy about it. Nothing is handed to you on a silver platter. RR understood this. Look how many times he ran before he got elected. Of course I want Rubio to win, but I also know Crist will be tough to beat in the primary. Here in CA we have the same problem. A conservative Assemblyman from Orange County, Chuck DeVore is running for the US Senate (Boxer’s seat). But he faces a strong challenge in the primary from former Hewlett Packard CEO and McCain Republican Carly Fiorina who has vastly more financial resources. While I am supporting DeVore in the primary, I will back either one of them in the general. ANYONE would make a vast improvement over Boxer. DeVore would make the perfect US Senator, but Fiorina too would be vast improvement over Boxer.
“Not presidential but certainly got money from RNC.”
Yes, after a 3rd party candidate entered the race and threatened to split the vote...which is exactly what happened.
Don’t construe from this that I thought Scozza was a good choice, I just hate it when apostates mischaracterize the history to mislead people pushing a political position or candidate.
“Nah. He went nuts late in the campaign or I probablly would have.”
So you’re saying you would have voted for him until you found out he was unelectable?
“Perot did not bring us Clinton, the GOP did.”
No candidate is going to be liked by 100% of the voting base. I wasn’t a Bush I fan but I would have preferred him to the Clintons.
So off with my head.
He was anti-gun and pro-abortion before that.

That seems to unnerve some of the more cautious types, but timidity has helped bring us to where we are, hasn't it? To toss in a tired old cliche of my own, sometimes extreme times call for extreme measures.
She hates the paid political hacks that ran the McCain campaign, not the party. But, come on, the woman’s on a book tour, she’s not going to disagree with any position or question put to her that might affect sales.
Well I know what works and what won’t work. We need a replay of 1994 to stop the socialist Obamanation of our country. Only if the GOP controls congress will we be able to stop it short of a military coup or a violent revolution. Just as we stopped the Clintons we can stop BHO. Taking back Congress is the key. Leaders will emerge. I am looking at John Kasich should he win the governor’s race in Ohio. Of course I am keeping my eye on Sarah. I also like Rick Perry. My favorite is Gen. Petraeus but it now looks like he won’t run. But there is no substitute for hard work and dedication. That’s what we need. Obviously I’m no fan of BHO but he was and is a relentless organizer who studied Alinsky’s methods and organized relentlessly to win the Democrat nomination and the presidency. We need some community organizers of our own. We saw this with tea parties and the town halls. We need to work with the GOP just as BHO’s troops worked within the framework of the Democrat Party. That my FRiend is how elections are won and lost in this country. Everyone needs to be on the same page and have a common purpose.
Well then, you should be more than fed up with the RNC elites.
Yopu forgot the “Torch and Pitchfork” Party.
You know, those who advocate burning at all down so they can groove and whine on the rubble.
Not what I said at all.
IMO it is rather stupid to chose a candidate based on so called electability. That is shallow minded and only brings us pretty boys who have no Conservative roots.
I don't recall but that but I think I was more interested in his economic ideas...lol..the sucking noise and going under the hood...Dole was a very uninspiring candidate. Typical GOP selection.
