Does NOT sound safe - although the line of people apparently was thoroughly & carefully checked & wanded.
The crowd should have kicked his ass, I would have done that had I been there. This is why book signings of this magnitude should NOT be at malls, you can’t shut down the whole mall, yes you can have detectors to make sure that no one brings in a weapon, etc..but other people in the mall walking around, they can throw something or do something much much worse

There was a lot more hatred than tomato hurled at Sarah by the guy in MN. Those at CBS, and other leftists, aren’t so different really. They are just a bit more sophisticated in both their hatred and their delivery of it.
