Bosses at the University of East Anglia insisted last night the under- fire institution could ride out the storm of the climategate scandal - but called on the support of people in Norfolk and Norwich to help them through the most damaging row in its history.
# A national newspaper yesterday suggested Russian security services could have been behind the breach, which is being investigated by Nor-folk police aided by Scotland Yard.

The East Anglian locals should be offended at this insult to their intelligence.
Already determined it was a LEAK, not a "hack" - this isn't getting them any sympathy.
It doesn't really matter whether Russkys or teenagers or an insider or Lower Slobbovians exposed the Emails.
They didn't WRITE them!

When was the last time you heard a scientist get hysterical when you asked him to explain Einstein's theory of relativity?
If you ask a scientist why nothing can move faster than the speed of light, he doesn't tell you a terrible story about how koala bears will die if you don't believe the theory is right, does he?
Scientists who are confident and in command of the facts don't need to distort data and duck basic questions about the assumptions that are behind scientific theories.

“... Our position is, as far as the science is concerned we think that it is robust. The science is, we believe, rock solid; even if you took out CRU, it would still be an absolutely overwhelming case.
Rock solid, except for the fact we deleted/lost our original data.
The guy is a PR man, not a scientist... I wonder how long the FOI data requests sat around, and how they will cover that up...:^)
