I can not post anything from this news organization.
Read the article.
The teacher's union is about to get their heads handed to them.
They have a bad choice and a worse choice to make. They will make the worst choice.
Unions meet reality.

Seven out of ten Detroit kids don’t even graduate. The ones that do don’t even know the basics.
They should fire the teachers, give every kid a diploma for turning 18 years old and save the city billions of dollars each year.
Why bother?
They still have schools there?
You are so right. The best thing that could happen to Detroit’s children would be closing their government schools.
I don’t know which is more humorous - that they actually have an Emergency Finance person, or that his name is Robert “Bob” Bobb.
Little did they know in "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Back to the Future II" that they were making a documentary of Detroit, 2009.
“Brenda Scott Middle School”???? They named a middle school after a DPS Board member?
Very interesting. They’re all up in arms over a $250 per paycheck cut ($500/month), but I’d be willing to bet 90% of them see no problem with upping my family’s taxes by $500.
They voted-in the politicians that created this mess - let them reap the consequences. And if they don’t like it or didn’t vote for it, then find a way to move to a red state. Teachers (ones that can pass basic exams) are still in pretty high need in lots of places in the country! Easy enough to solve.
Especially since Detroit school teachers are among the highest paid in the State. And Michigan is among the highest paid in the nation.
Secondly, its not a cut. Its a loan which will be paid back at a later date.
My bad - you’re right - it’s a loan.
Everybody should click onto this article and look at the pictures of the teachers. “Real Professionals” one and all. It looks the the drunken rabble collecting outside a Celtics game that don’t have funds enough to buy a ticket!
It’s a loan if you think they will actually be repaid. It will be interesting to see the case law work out once one of the larger cities and/or states actually goes bankrupt.
“I dont know which is more humorous - that they actually have an Emergency Finance person, or that his name is Robert Bob Bobb.”
His name is humorous, but the guy, appointed by the governor, is doing a fantastic job trying to straighten out the incredible mess that is the Detroit Public Schools.
Democratic supporters of failure of the status quo raging against Democratic supporters of the status quo. Let them all rot. They chased every middle class family out of that city.
The median home value is $12,000 and many of our children could buy an entire city block of Detroit for what they make working minimum wage jobs for the summer. They’ve destroyed the tax base, the city is in ruins, no one is left to pay the bill.
Just send in the scoops to clean up that crowd in Cobo Hall. Raze entire sections of that failed cesspool and sell them to the highest bidder. Of course given the fact that the Silverdome just sold for $585,000 I’m willing to bet you couldn’t get people to repopulate Detroit with an offer of 40 acres and a mule.
Yes, this will be fun to watch. Fun to see if these folks are so stupid as to turn down the offered contract, and risk driving the school district into bankruptcy which would abrogate their union contract. Ultimately, bankruptcy and starting over from scratch would be the best thing that could happen for the children in this school district.
Thanks.
At this point they can’t even rape the rest of the state (as they do here in NJ); there is nobody left to pay there either. When the city population fell below 1 million a few years back, the city and state gubmints were sounding alrams because that also reduced the federal aid they would receive.
