A bid by Florida cops to probe whether Tiger Woods mixed a powerful potion of painkillers, sleeping pills and booze before he crashed near his home was rejected by a Sunshine State district attorney, according to a newly disclosed document.
The report states Woods had access to the sleeping medicine Ambien and the painkiller Vicodin.
The state attorney for Orlando, Fla., brushed off a subpoena request by the Florida Highway Patrol to obtain blood tests from Health Central Hospital, where Woods was taken after the Nov. 27 crash, according to the subpoena request obtained by the Herald.

Bingo! We have a winner. I’m not condoning Tigers actions but the police need probable cause and they clearly had none. I think someone in Florida Law enforcement saw some TV time and a book deal down the road if they could get the goods on tiger. The DA did right on this by saying get out of my office with your self serving fishing expedition.
As someone who has lost a family member at the hands of a driver who was high on crystal-meth, I can promise you that DUI is as "real" a crime as it gets.
What about when the cops go on sweeps and arrest people in bars for public intoxication, or other times people are arrested for public intoxication?

Traffic duty is a good bit safer, and therefore preferred. It also generates revenue via citations whereas apprehending, prosecuting, and warehousing criminals costs money, to be avoided in a recessionary state budget climate.
How is careening down the street, hitting hedges, fire hydrant and tree not “probable cause” of DUI?

Let me get this straight - you're argument is that a driver who is involved in a low-speed, single vehicle accident in clear conditions and on dry roads in the middle of the night, who is found sleeping next to his destroyed vehicle, and who eye witness statements allege was drinking and may have taken prescription drugs earlier in the evening - is NOT "reasonable cause", which is the standard in FL?

In any other time with any other driver, that person would have been arrested on suspicion of DUI. It's not even close.
Not to take this thread ‘off’ topic...but what did the mother in law, Mrs. Nordegren do to deserve being labled as ‘ugly.’ What...she grew old and comes here to help her adult daughter and care for her grandchildren.

Standard misconception from one side of this country to the other. It is a very easy case if the cop sees you in the driver’s seat and the exhaust is blowing. But in general, the elements are:
On a public road
In control of a vehicle
Impaired (by whatever standard is illegal: drugs, alcohol, etc)
At an accident scene, a witness places a person as the driver of the vehicle and that person fails a field sobriety, you have a start for a good case.
If a person in an accident admits to driving, in a noncustodial interview, you may also have a good start.
Tiger, IIRC correctly gave his driver’s info and reg via an attorney. Tiger admitted he was driving. It’s not an issue.

Automobile accidents happen every day and most are not drug related.
You tell me how hitting a fire hydrant and a tree IS probable cause....?
It was two in the morning, he may have just fell asleep at the wheel. Maybe he had a seizure. Maybe he had tire failure. Maybe the suspension gave way on the one side of the vehicle. Maybe a dog ran in front of the vehicle and he wrecked trying to avoid killing the dog.
