Should be a given, but since it apparently is not, then yes. When the Conservatives come to power..it will pass.

How about an ammendment that prohibits anyone voting in a federal election if they received federal money since the previous election.

The way these snakes in DC work, I wouldn’t trust them to write anything that goes against their power

Well, it's not like they'd actually read the thing./sarc

Why are people who don’t own property allowed to vote?

That could get interesting, as most people don’t own property, but are simply renting it from the local government. (They’ll take it if you don’t pay your property tax, right? Then they own it.)

Hey ladies, are you freer now with the crushing income tax than you were before the 19th amendment?

I disagree, I think it should be done at the State level, nothing prevents a STATE from holding their representatives accountable. therefore I propose the following

Any Legal Resident of the State of “ “, Who is required by Law to take an OATH of any kind, shall be guilty of FELONY Public Corruption in the Following circumstances:

1. Making Deliberate false or misleading statements to the Public or any person at any time.

2. Accepting anything of value by any person or persons that cannot legally cast a vote for you if you are an elected representative.

3. Receiving or attempting to receive any Public Benefit in excess of the Average Citizens Public Benefits.

The first State to do something along these lines will Start the Restoration process. The Fed is the problem and the answer lies within the States.

I think the Amendment should be broader and should include ALL Government employees. Anyone at the Government’s Teat Should be living by the same rules as the rest of us.

I think only those who pay taxes (sales tax, earned income recipients exempt) should be allowed to vote. EVERYTHING the government does becomes their responsibility. (The rest simply vote themselves other peoples money and add no burden to themselves.)

Yep, but I'd add state elections to that, too. The feds would cheat by throwing money to "the right people" even more than they do now, and all the social programs would be mandated, by federal law, to the states.

I would go a different direction ... an amendment that gives any state the right to withdraw from the Union upon an affirmative vote of that state’s citizens.

Air conditioning was the advent of our downfall. Before then, the sweltering muck of the swampy land upon which DC was built would send the representatives packing. Now, it’s year-round pomp.

Well for sure, you have an irrefutable point! We protest our property taxes (Texas) every year, mostly to no avail, even on the local level where the citizen has more leverage, the puppet tyrants still rule. One day...one day...

And I wonder, how is it these petty tyrants maintain their power? So, I find, those that are elected KEEP GETTING elected, back to my point of a stupid constituency.

In Central Texas (the Hill Country), we now have a “view tax”, top that one. Because it’s possible in the hills to have a pretty view, thus the “view tax”. Ours just looks down into a draw, not much view at all. I almost got into a fracus with the ass’t tax assessor this year, was willing to go a bond and fine but my wife said there’s a better way. What way is that?

Run for office yourself. Go talk to the voters in your precinct/county/whatever. Take your local government back. Abolish local laws that violate property rights.

Why not a Fair Tax Amendment?

You got any particular reason for believing Senators elected by a state legislature will be an improvement over those elected by the voters?

If nothing else, it’s one step away from democracy and one towards decentralization.

I think it’s time to pass an amendment restricting non-natural born citizens from running for president. That way, Obama wouldn’t be able to run again.

...oh, wait...
