GOV PALIN: "GOING FUNNY" (ROGUE?) [Text of Palin's Gridiron speech]
gretawire.blogs.foxnews.com ^ | Dec. 6, 2009

Journalists.....and the "tonge in cheek" dinner Gridiron Dinner...

See below - the posting below is the speech Governor Palin (I am told) gave last night to the big media dinner in Washington, DC. I was not at the dinner but the speech was just emailed to me by someone who did go (no, Governor Palin did not email me her speech...)

Congressman Barney Frank also spoke and I would love to likewise get his speech and post here. The speeches are supposed to be funny ...and poke fun at everyone and everything.

Here is Gov Palin's speech to the media last night:

1

Good evening. It’s great to be in Washington and I am loving the weather.

I braved the elements and went out for a jog! Or, as Newsweek calls it, a cover-shoot.

It’s a privilege to be here tonight at the Washington DC Barnes & Noble.

Tonight, I'll be reading excerpts from my new book.

Perhaps you’ve heard of it?

“Going Rogue”

Yukon wasn’t sure if I’d go with that title and somebody suggested I follow the East Coast selfhelp

trend and go with, “How To Look Like A Million Bucks…For Only 150 Grand.”

Todd liked, “The Audacity of North Slope.”

Hey, I considered not having a title at all.

I’ve said it before, but you Beltway types just don’t seem to get it. You don’t need a title

to make an impact.

But anyway, let’s get started.

I’ll begin my first reading on Page 209.

Rest of it is at the link....

We'll see. At this point, I don't see how she cannot run considering the allegory of the constant "runner" in her book, the general campaign-like nature of her book tour, and the heavy burden she has placed upon herself in taking up the Conservative cause, nearly alone and against the GOP establishment.

Moreover, she has certainly noticed the tens of thousands of supporters who have camped out and stood in mile-long lines just to spend a few seconds with her, lately in miserable weather, and would surely realize what a let down it would be if she failed to carry her efforts through to their natural conclusion.

Still, I agree Todd was looking frazzled and annoyed, which is natural considering everything that has been hurled at his family since August 29, 2008.

I agree with you and as such I wish Sarah would just drop the line altogether.

I may be reading to much into the line but it is disheartening to see and hear it. Sarah has to know she can only make so much of an impact out side of the process. To curb or revers the RAT. Sarah has to know a title is needed and that title is President. Thats the only title worthy of her now. A President makes more of an impact than a private citizen such as Sarah and no I am not dismissing the impact of Sarah but there is a world of difference between the to.

“I’ve said it before, but you Beltway types just don’t seem to get it. You don’t need a title to make an impact.”

This quote and the picture of Todd at the book signing scares me to to the point of hedging on weather Sarah is actually going to Run in ‘12. I always thought she would but the above quote has been stated repeatedly by Sarah and that is disconcerting to me.

Without the hope and potential of Sarah winning the title of "president", I believe she would be making much less of an impact.

And I'm not a beltway type.

BTW, I still think she is going to run.

I don’t think she will run for president in 2012.

I just finished reading her book, and it appears that another book will be forthcoming (not about “her” next time though), and there are indications that she will be active in Michigan in some significant way.

Please don’t be disappointed if she does’t run for POTUS in 2012.

I wouldn't worry about it - she's just saying that so people won't ask her if she's running in 2012.

I read that line as an encouragement. She's saying we don't have to have titles in order to get things done or get things moving. If someone feels strongly about something, they should just do it and not let the lack of a title prevent them from doing what is right.

remember, We The People have no standing. (LOL)

Sarah doesn't have to be President of anything to get things done. What she may be saying is that a person makes the title, not vice versa. Look at obama. He is labeled the _resident yet there is nothing presidential about him. The title is not doing anything for him, didn't change his character, make him wiser or a better person. All he is doing is bringing down the title making it a joke. based on that, who needs a title? it's just a word.

Well, just remember that she's playing a cat-and-mouse game with both the hostile MSM and National GOP establishment. I think that the line is geared more toward defusing any further questions about her resignation as governor rather than what she may or may not do in the future.

Personally, I think she's using the book tour to gauge how much support she might expect, and how strong it is, for a potnetial POTUS run. So far so good.

Finally, I would just keep in mind the question of why she would be putting herself and her family through this right now if she wasn't at least thinking about the big prize since she's doing a lot of things during this tour that most other authors would not be doing, such as the non-stop interviews and even the Gridiron Club dinner last night.

I love the Christmas tree background in the store.
You wouldn’t catch Ubama getting photographed with a Christmas tree in the same picture (unless it was an authorized photo op at the White House). Indeed, Ubama’s handlers would have made the store cover the tree up.

YES! Snow, her hat, Christmas tree, her hat,
Christmas lights, her hat, umbrellas, her hat,
Christmas red ribbons, her hat, Todd, her hat,
love, smiles, happy and in love Palin’s.

Just a beautiful collection of photos.

If she doesn’t run I will be more than upset. I hope she realizes her moment is now...ergo...2012.

On last night's thread we were discussing how Sarah's hat will probably be the hottest piece of merchandise in the country in a week or two.

Sarah's joke on Biden's book, "Going Rogaine," comes from . . . HERE, yes, here on FR, from the DUmmie FUnnies! I wrote that line as part of a DUmmie FUnnies edition. DUFU reader Libloather went to the Palin book signing at Roanoke and passed it along to her, and she laughed and said she would use it! And she did!
