Obama To Rally Senate Dems on Healthcare (Obama goes to Hill today)

WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- President Obama prepared to rally Senate Democrats Sunday on a healthcare bill bogged down by abortion, a public option and a Medicare panel, officials said.

Obama was to meet with Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and other Senators in a rare Sunday session ahead of possible debate Monday on key amendments.

Conservative Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., has threatened to filibuster reform legislation unless it contains restrictions on abortion coverage and the Senate has yet to find common ground on a government-run public option for health insurance.

Also up for discussion is the scope of an independent Medicare Advisory Board, which would have the power to rein in Medicare spending if costs continue to rise after 2014, the Washington Post reported Sunday.

It’s probably already underway, silently. If Health Care gets rammed through, I expect a full blown tax revolt, liberals and conservatives. We will be lucky if that’s all it is, civil war wouldn’t shock me at all.

They do not realize how much resistance there is to this Insurance giveaway. They are listening to Harry Reid and Pelosi It reminds me of how television advertisers listen to Neilson and act accordingly. They will learn in the 2012 elections how sincere Reid and Pelosi are.

Well said, samtheman. I object to the very PREMISE of this healthcare takeover, not to all the little deals that can supposedly dilute this monster. I expect B.O. to dip his hand into the giant piggy bank— otherwise known as our tax dollars and most likely unspent stimulus money—to bribe, intimidate, and lure any recalcitrants. But just for once, I’d like to see someone—anyone—stand up to him and say “No!”

I read Tip O'Neill's book Man of the House years ago.

In one chapter, O'Neill goes off on President Reagan, because Reagan had the audacity to ask if he could stop by Capitol Hill to talk to members of Congress about the budget. O'Neill said he called up Reagan's chief of staff in a tirade, and screamed into the phone that Reagan "Wants to come up here to LOBBY!" Then he told Reagan to go to hell, and wouldn't allow a frickin visit from the President.

Of course, when the Community Organizer wants to come by, its all bells and candy rainbows from the Dims.
