Reagan warned the GOP back in the 1960's about compromising with the big-government socialist trend. He had to fight the party line and party officials before and after he became president to implement his much-needed less-government/less-taxes policies.

There's always a lot of nail biting among GOP officials when someone like Reagan or Palin comes along who doesn't care about what's "politically expedient" for the stupid party. Conservatism (and Palin) will win in America not because of the GOP but in spite of it.

A miraculous and major overhaul would needed to change this GOP into an America-first, do-or-die type group. Its why George Washington was loathe to see any kind of partisanism in his day because he rightly knew that political parities tend to forget their raison d'etre (America), and focus on its own self-preservation instead.

I worked in his campaign when he first ran for Gov.

WE have Two parties and will continue to have two parties
except for the neo left Paulites who always facilitate Democrat victories.

That’s good, but I was also referring to Reagan’s difficulties with the GOP in and around his presidency. Maybe I’m talking to a party official-type here I don’t know, but the GOP has strayed seriously away from its conservative roots, and is a huge reason why we have the Obamanazi in the White House now. It remains to be seen if Sarah can overcome whatever is needed in her own party to get the nomination.
