(snip)... Born in Tongcheon, Gangwon Province in 1943, Ri has worked with microphone in hand for 37 years since graduating from the Pyongyang University of Dramatic and Cinematic Arts in February, 1971. "She grasps the hearts of viewers with her strong and appealing voice," the magazine gushed. "She strikes the enemies so severely that they have become dumbfounded when she announces statements and talks." North Korea's female news announcers enjoy the privilege of getting their hair styled at the country's best beauty salon, Changgwangwon in Pyongyang. Their hairstyles and clothes lead the country's fashions. They are also allowed opportunities to try on clothes made by the national clothing institute before anybody else.

They did an effectively 100 /1 reverse split on their currency ie: 1000 won got you 10 won. They were cracking down on a black market that a lot of the food moved through. It looks like the old “juche”(self reliance) got a little too much for “Little Kim”. This is in a nation that will most likely be in a famine again by spring and people sell their children to each other for food and no I am not joking. Its easier when you don't have an emotional connection. Reports of cannibalism have been filtering out for years via defectors and escapees. North Korea is Hell on earth if you aren't “connected”

They are trying to plug every hole that leaks. I am sure Chia Head figures population would be cowed eventually. Still, this is cutting it too close. He only increases the chance of accidental blowout.

authorized all soldiers to shoot any North Korea citizen crossing into China, for any reason, without questions I'm confused. Hasn't it always been so?
Even the guards in East Berlin used to shoot Germans trying to climb the Berlin Wall to the West.
I'm sure Obama will shoot us if we try to escape from Obamacare.

In deviation from north person firing permission and the Korean paper reporting December 6th 4:4 transmissions TBS
This the Korean Korean daily report, being something which it conveys as story of well-informed sources inside North Korea, that recently, the national defense commission which is the highest power system, may pip at that place concerning the person who exceeds the border without permission, that gave permission to guard of the middle morning border, it is thing.
It is seen as the measure which prevents the fact that the inhabitant who holds dissatisfaction vis-a-vis reducing the denomination = currency unit which is executed first, escapes on the Chinese side.
In addition, as for these well-informed sources, with [denomi], suddenly, the middle class which is the ability to be taken the gold with the group the possibility deviation from north of doing is high, that it points out.
On the one hand, if as for the Korean government authorities person there is no information of the group riot and mass deviation from north at present stage, that after doing, as for the North Korean inhabitant there is no thing which did demonstration and the like and circumstance deteriorates, you say the fact that deviation from north it does probably will be chosen. Yes, and the Obama administration
American Kowtowers to North Korea left Washington D.C. yesterday afternoon and are in the air as we speak over the Pacific.
Link, above, to news footage today of US State Dept's Son Kim as he ducks out of Washington D.C. Dulles Airport on the way to s*ck off the North Koreans in Pyongyang from Tuesday with his boss, Bosworth. Japanese TV crew caught him, got in his face a bit and asked him some questions. American TV networks will NOT be covering this story to this level. (Link, above, to short video good for a limited time. Hit the white arrow. Might not stream on all machines).
And FLASH! at 5 p.m. local Asia time Sunday. North Korea is trying to get the growingly desperate "denomination unrest" situation under control. They are a) using the North Korean organization (Chongyron) in Japan to run news stories quoting the Chief of the North Korean Central bank trying to calm down those with savings in North Korean banks; b) they are offering 500Won as "consolation money" to each North Korean family buy them off and to prevent them from rampaging in the streets.
Today is the final day to exchange the old notes. From tomorrow, the old notes will be watered down by 100th of their original value.
What a STUPID TIME for Obama to send a high level delegation (if ever) to North Korea to grovel. This should be the buzz on the Sunday shows. Would we be sending a delegation to Berlin or Prague or Budapest in an effort to prop up their regimes at the very moment the social fabric was starting to come undone and prospect of a popular uprising was growing!? This is insanity.

Here are the new North Korean funny money notes, good from tomorrow:
And to answer you, Earthdweller, they did this before in 1992. I am not sure how many times before, and, if in 1992, there were riots or disorder of any kind. TLR might know, so I am copying that Freeper as well.
