The horrid news report about North Korea, in Japanese, is
HERE.
And HERE is a clip of what the new North Korean notes look like. The Japanese got ahold of some of them.
The developing story is the new denominations for North Korean currency notes which have a) wiped out many people's entire savings in North Korea, b) caused low level demonstrations and anti-government grafitti in some parts of DPRK; c) motivated some citizens to burn their old, meaningless currency in protest.
Japanese news analysis says South Korean sources picked up intelligence that the Supreme National Defense Command (Council) has authorized all soldiers to shoot any North Korea citizen crossing into China, for any reason, without questions.
The conclusion in the news piece was that since the domestic police state is in force, demonstrations will be very difficult to organize, therefore in frustration there may start a drain of escapees into China, and this is to forestall any of that. The regime is very concerned about East German/Hungarian type-1990s instability. This order would be a direct order from Kim Jong il.
Note: An absolutely reprehensible American Appeasement Mission headed by Stephen Bosworth and sent by Obowma is set to actually arrive in Pyongyang, North Korea in two days to kowtow, even despite this horrendous DPRK crackdown on citizens. Meanwhile, the US refuses to recognize fully the current regime in democratic Honduras. for much minor--if any-legitimate reasons at all.
Ping!
Bump!
What is “dappoku” ? “To flee the north”...?
To wipe out individuals who accumulated too much old money through “illegal” capitalist activities.
It is actually part of the larger “dappokusha” or literally “one who leaves the North”.
drastic currency revaluation a few days ago, and calling in all old notes, but giving crappy exchange returns for them as well as limiting amount that can be reconverted into new currency...effectively wiping out savings of many in the DPRK who had somehow managed to save. and p*ssing off a lot of people in North Korea as a result, coalescing in minor disturbances so far...to the extent anyone can get internal news. People are going into a buying panic and trying to buy as many goods as they can before the old currency goes out of validity.
Kind of like what Obama promised (threatened) Joe the Plumber.
Is this a new fun totalitarian game or have they done this before?
Any word if Pyonganng Patty going defect LOL!
The Romanian revolution in 1989 was triggered by a lesser event than this.

Ceausescu was executed Christmas Day 1989, I hope for a similar Christmas present for the people of North Korea, this year.
Islamist and Marxist.
No others need apply.
How about we carpet bomb North Korea with millions of stamped out .45’s with ammo.
Oh, and decks of playing cards with certain people on them.
Yes - the long nightmare may be soon be over for the Koreans....not so for us.
Bump
They limit the amount anyone can have to equiv. to the amount of about 40 dollars US, no matter how much money one had prior. Now they are going to shoot anyone who wants to pick up their marbles and go elsewhere? Nice.
I sincerely doubt the North Korean regime will fall unless and until a US Administration that is known far and wide as being for liberty, freedom, capitalism and anticommunism, is in power. That may take until 2013.
Particularly if Bosworth at Obama's behest STILL goes to Pyongyang on this coming Wednesday and gives any inkling of promises to the North Koreans in terms of aid or finances, right in the midst of this horrible human rights outrage.
I dont expect a Romania 1989 for the DPRK during an Obama regime. I still wish the North Korean people, in a sad, distant sense, all the best, and would of course love to have thousands of .45s unmarked with ammo air dropped along with propaganda leaflets, but that ain't going to happen.
For those who dont know. The North Korean equivalent to "Baghdad Bob". Only not widely known in the West because all of her tirades and humorous denials of reality are done on nightly DPRK TV in the Korean language.
