Two thousand brave cold, snow for Palin book signing in Fairfax
The Washington Post ^ | 12-05-09 | James Hohmann

Sarah Palin brought a taste of the Alaska winter with her to a Saturday book signing at the BJ's Wholesale Club in Fairfax. After alternating between drizzle and rain for much of the night Friday, snow flurries began in earnest about 8:30 a.m.

"I wanted to feel like I was at home" Palin said, as she walked into the store while the first snowfall of the season soaked a crowd of about 2,000 people who came to meet her.

Yeah, Todd looks like he’d much rather be out on a snow machine somewhere in the wild rather than sitting there handing out books. LOL! He’s THE man!

Yeah, the SOLE protester in Springfield had a sign saying Trig is not her biological son. Pathetic.

Too bad that Todd couldn’t have strolled out into the parking lot and delivered a first-class Alaska whipping on that loser.

"The tide has turned," he said. "Virginia is not a blue state. It was just caught up in the Obama wave, but Virginia is a red state"

What....are they stupid in Virginia? Please explain being 'caught up' in the Obama wave because I'm sort of dense when it comes to people that allow themselves to be manipulated and "acting stupidly".

Well, it was a girl so he couldn’t have done that. He wasn’t there, but I guess Sarah’s dad could have gone out and asked what mental hospital she escaped from! I couldn’t believe ONE protester would warrant a TV shot - at least they didn’t interview her, as far as I know.

I live near the book-signing site, and the roads were really treacherous today with lots of cars sliding into ditches. (We have wimpy little winters in Northern Virginia, but we get these crappy slushy-snow-and-freezing rain combos that make the hilly, twisty back roads really hard to navigate.)

So, everybody who turned out today had to take some trouble to do so.

Also, Sarah looks better all the time. Just hot.

I can vouch for you in that regard. The only really bad accident I've ever had was on a hilly, twisty, Virginia back road. Totalled my MGB - which was actually a pretty good snow car because of its low center of gravity, just not so good on ice.

A couple of Sarah lines tweeted from Gridiron dinner:

"Sometimes you've got to trust your instincts and when you don't, you end up in places like this"

"If biden hadn't been elected and was out selling his book it would be "Growing Rogaine"

The blueness or redness of a region has to be viewed in context of specific candidates. The give-a-damn factor has a lot to do with this. A factoid that I love to quote is that in 2008, 40% of Americans who were eligible to vote did not vote for any presidential candidate.

Which is absolutely despicable. I always love those that say “I just couldn’t bring myself to vote” (you know the ones that are so self righteous and principled) but if truth be known, they’ll scream like stuck pigs (or maybe they’re doing that now) when it really gets bad...because as they say “we ain’t seen nothin’ yet”.

And so what, when all is said and done. Good candidates are at least as essential to a sound political process as are discerning voters. I am angry at John McCain not nearly so much for his specific sell outs to the liberals, as for giving Barack Obama only a powder puff fight when he had material to do far more.
