Thune in 2012
Real Clear Politics ^

I just saw Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) on FOX News discussing the Obamacare bill. He is a terrific voice. He's RIGHT on the issues. Looks great on TV. In other words would make a great GOP candidate in 2012. A winning conservative voice who sells our issues beautifully.

I agree with you!

I met Thune at a meeting back in October and he is a very thoughtful articulate individual. He is the future of the GOP and a guy we all can support.

Why not? Does he have any RINO-ness that we know of?

Agreed. i like Thune...but I think he’ll run into some fundraising problems. I’d put him on Sarahs list for VP contenders.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought I saw his name amongst those (like Gingrich) who support the man-made global warming fallacy?

IIRC, he’s walked with the RINOs on some issues.

Thune is great, although I have DeMint, Coburn, and (Mitch) Daniels ahead of him. All would be highly preferable to a certain celebutard from Alaska (ducks).

We don’t need another young Senator for President.

Please.

To: davidtalker; All
I've been watching him a coupla years and he is good - comes across great.

BUT I'd rather see him for VP.

PALIN/THUNE

SArah already has the name recognition and following - we don't have time to get Thune to that level.

And we need to get this man into the pipeline. Lt. Col Allen West, a hero - with plenty of leadership experience and a strict constitutionalist.

He's another ‘Sarah.’

Get him in the pipeline NOW - the GOP isn't doing much to support him, they are afraid of him like they are Sarah...He's uber conservative.
We All need to send him support, regardless of where we live.

BAYONETS UP!

and in the future:
PALIN/WEST
then
WEST/?

Have to learn more about him. One of the many reasons Palin is my firm choice is that she excites large crowds. Look at how Obama won. He spoke to large crowds and then at the event many of those people gave miney and their email addresses etc. That’s the way to break the back of the ither side in terms of money raised. One weapon the media and the left can use only works on a man: infidelity. I certainly assume Thune has no such skeletons but remember, the media will be desperate to re-elect Obama, they could float a phony story at the last minute even if there wasn’t a hint of truth. With Sarah that prett much wouldn’t fly,,,she’d just cone out laughing and say “have you seen Todd?”.

Palin might not be running in 2012; she seems to be setting herself up as kingmaker. We want a number of good candidates with conservative credentials and a clean record.

I think he should definitely run in 2012, so he can be considered as a V.P.

There is no way he can run and win the nomination, without ever having run a national campaign. Sorry, but I want our nominee tested and ready to hit the ground running. Plus, he would have to start organizing now and raise a boatload of cash to compete with Palin and Romney.

But by all means, he should throw his hat in the ring and get that experience for the next time around OR to be considered for the V.P. slot.

And frankly, I don’t want a Senator or an insider/establishment guy or gal at the top of the ticket and by 2012, neither will most of the electorate.
