Baucus Nominated Girlfriend for U.S. Attorney

A spokesman for U.S. Sen. Max Baucus says the Montana Democrat was in a romantic relationship with the woman he nominated for U.S. attorney.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus was already involved with his girlfriend and former staffer when he recommended her earlier this year to become the next U.S. attorney for Montana, a spokesman said.

The Montana Democrat and his former state office director Melodee Hanes began their relationship in the summer of 2008, after Baucus separated from his wife, Ty Matsdorf told The Associated Press late Friday.

Baucus nominated Hanes for the U.S. attorney post in Montana in March. But she later withdrew, saying she had been presented with other opportunities she couldn't pass up.

Is Baucus all of a sudden on the WH enemies list or something? I didn’t think this sort of info ever was published about fellow democrats?

For this to be front & center news, Reid must be having a real hard time with Baucus on the Health Care Bill.

Our comments here have dredged up images from the depths of our depraved psyches that were probably best left undredged. Nevertheless, upon further contemplation, I do believe that the correct order is Teddy, Barney and Chris.

Well if they did blackmail him the cat is out of the bag. I wonder if the Montana GOP can find a good candidate to take out this dud next time he is up for reelection?

Well she said she would fight to end nepotism and favoritism given to the rich and powerful and well connected in DC.

The bigger story here, if anyone is brave enough to investigate it, is whether someone within the Obama administration, the DNC, or some other Communist group had attempted to blackmail Baucus over this “tidbit” in order to convince him to get back in line with their Marxist-Socialist agenda...

Bingo...my thoughts exactly. Baucus was one of 6 known no votes I believe.

If you read closely, it says she got her position with Baucus based on merit.

What's a merit go for in DC these days?

Whatever it is, I think it’s coming down — the recession, y’know.

Baucus practically owns the people of MT, and they don’t know they are his serfs.

No, people in MT think they are legally required to keep Max there “fighting for them”. Some will truly believe anything.

I don’t MT has elected but two Republicans to the Senate since World War II. People there believe in government subsidies.

Baucus and his wife, the former Wanda Minge, are divorcing after 25 years of marriage and have “parted ways amicably and with mutual respect"

LOL, I wonder how many million$ citizen legislator Baucus shelled out to get that little soundbite?

She was undoubtably fully qualified, in his opinion, in quite a number of ways.
