Tucson, Ariz. (AP) -- A judge has threatened to sentence an Arizona man to 25 days in prison for leaving jugs of water in the desert for illegal immigrants.
A federal jury in June convicted Walt Staton of Tucson of littering in the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge.
. . .
Staton is a member of the group No More Deaths, which supports humanitarian aid along the border. He was scheduled to be re-sentenced Friday after he told a U.S. magistrate last month that he objected to the court's punishment on moral and legal grounds.

How about “No More Wetbacks”? That would solve the problem.
“Would you be morally okay with police giving them water after arresting them and trucking them across the border immediately?”
Oh, I’d be more than morally ok with it, I’d expect it! Yes, give them water and then send them home.
If it's really that bad, why don't they just go home?
What about the staring guys at the Home Depot parking lot. And the homeless with the cardboard signs at the intersections. Do you also support them?

Oh, I guess I could hold my own :-)
I don't think blue collar work is special. I think it sucks and I'm thankful that I don't have to do it. I like to get my hands dirty or bloody as the case may be but I don't want to have to do it for a living. I've worked on my own roof, septic field, plumbing, electric, garden, moving etc. It's hard dirty work. Since I have 9 kids to feed and one on the way, I can't afford to be prissy. I wish I was a lot smaller but I would have to stop eating. 210 would be a nice size.
Being from Kentucky I admit I have not had a lot of direct experience with Hispanics. Every one that I have ever met, here or elsewhere like Plano, Pheonix or El Paso has been very polite and appears to be hard working. Therefore, I have respect for them in general. I say string up the ones that steal, rape or murder just like everybody else. But then were are not what we once were. That is not their fault it's ours.
All of my ancestors were/came from poverty striken, blue collar or worse immigrants. My father's father came here illegally, reported himself to the police everywhere he went (he was German), and they ignored him. He launched a family of great Americans.
Anyway, may God bless you and have a nice day.
Which brings me back to my post to you.
That sounds like a man that has not lived with, drank with, and worked with illegals. Have you ever frequented illegal bars with your illegal friends and seen what that culture is really like? It is deadly brutal, and knife based.
Crossing deserts to get past our laws, casually living in a world of forged documents and escaping detection by the tax system and policemen, lying to employers, that isn’t noble stuff, that is the lifestyle of the least noble.
You are talking about people with a very casual attitude about morality and decency and the laws.
The point is, it does not have to be that way. People are a nation's greatest asset. But we keep looking at them (all people) as a liability. It's not our job to feed, clothe, educate or provide health care for immigrants or anybody else but our own families. We should be angry at the government that increasingly enslaves us not at the immigrants that want to escape even worse slavery and corruption in their homelands. Enacting and upholding unenforced/selectivly enforced laws is a abomination that we should not accept from our representatives or authorities.
Frequenting bars does not make you an authority on any thing.
Of course it does, anyone interested in people and human nature would be foolish to not watch them in drinking establishments.
It is clear that you know nothing about illegals and their culture and ways.
“when the members see fit to get rid of him, he will be gone, not before that”....well what is their godamn hold up? are they just stupid or just don’t give a damn? when is ‘fit’???? why has his expulsion not been advanced up? where is the nra’s leadership helping school these kids that evidently are the ‘membership’ now? this bastard norquist is the worst sort of virus our country can have. I know all about the voting pros. of the once great nra. I was VERY involved with the nra before 99.9% of FReepers were born. norquist would NEVER have been allowed ANYWHERE near the nra in the old days. twist it around all you want sonny but the fact that this muslim terrorist enabling C.A.I.R bastard norquist is involved with the nra AND the fact they KNOW damn well of his anti American crap AND STILL keep him on, says all any of us old timers need to know about the once great nra. what a damn crock. I belong to 4 diff. G. clubs and 4 diff. G. orgs. and in each one, the amount of nra members leaving the nra is alarming, solely over this C.A.I.R muslim terrorist nra board member norquist. what has happened to the nra leadership? are they all a bunch of 50 year old children? what a damn joke the once great nra has become. they no longer rep. the common firearm owner as they once did many, many years ago,(for those of us who were there and involved then and know), the pups evidently in charge now do not carry the values of the nra from years past. so again, try to twist it up all you want for the younger FReepers...but, forget the ‘vote’, forget the ‘appointed’ jazz, forget ‘procedures’...in THIS PARTICULAR case, (and no knowing true American nra member would object to a special provisions case being put forth by leadership regarding the expulsion of the anti American norquist), this C.A.I.R. terrorist should be sent packing by leadership as soon as possible....before he can do anymore damage to our nation from within the nra.
And you’re not around to vote him out.
