CSU (Colorado State Univ) board votes in favor of campus gun ban

Colorado State University may be closer to banning concealed weapons on campus after the school's board of governors this morning voted unanimously for a weapons policy.

However, the nine-person body is leaving the nuts-and-bolts of a weapons control policy up to the school's three campus presidents.

"We respect there are many differing opinions on this issue," said board chairman Patrick McConathy, "but members of the CSU System Board believe this a reasonable, rational and responsible decision for our system."

CSU is one of the few universities in the country that allows concealed weapons on campus. This year, however, both CSU-Fort Collins' public safety team and the president's cabinet voted for a concealed weapons ban.

Of the mass school shootings we’ve had in this nation, how many ALLOWED concealed weapons?

The only group of people more dense than the Houses of Congress are the boards of our universities.

Yup, that law will surely stop all gun carrying on campus - by law abiding citizens.

Good grief, any more stupid and they could run for president.

How about we compromise.

Only ban guns for Democrats.

And in case of a massacre, only Democrats will be in the morally superior position of relying on the law to save them.

“International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators?”

So foreign campus police in countries with strict gun control think that it is a good idea that we have strict gun control here, and they listen to them? Do they also think it is a good idea that 15 year old children have sex like they do in their countries?

I think it is time for the students to appeal directly to the State legislature. Seriously, nobody should feel compelled to let a bunch of squishy academics lord it over them with social policy regulations.

Would any sane person want someone like Ward Churchill as their congressman? Outside of California or Massachusetts, of course.

The fascist SOBs are violating an individual right approved by the Creator as outlined in our Bill of Rights. Take the surrender poodles to court and make them pee in their pants.

University of Utah tried a gun ban, and held their ground when legally challenged.

Until the legislature and state court told them to allow CCW permit holders, or else.

Campus Shootings Readers will scarcely need reminding that shootings take place on college campuses, but the following map may help illustrate the number of shootings that have taken place in addition to Virginia Tech and NIU:

We had the issue to allow concealed weapons come up a few years ago at U of AL and in the AL Senate. Unfortunately, it got voted down as well.
