CNN: Obama approval rating below 50 percent (48-50)

Washington (CNN) -- Support for President Obama has dropped below 50 percent for the first time in a CNN poll despite high marks for his recently announced Afghanistan policy. Forty-eight percent of Americans questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. national survey released Friday said they approve of the job Obama is doing as president -- a drop of 7 percentage points from a survey last month. Fifty percent said they do not approve. The difference of 2 percentage points between approval and disapproval falls within the range of the poll's sampling error. "The poll indicates that the biggest drop in approval comes from noncollege-educated white voters," said Keating Holland, CNN's polling director. "That's one indication among many that Obama's growing unpopularity may be more related to unemployment and the poor economy" than to factors such as his strategy for Afghanistan.

The thing is, a lot of people are unhappy because he isn’t acting liberal ENOUGH for them. This isn’t exactly good for our cause.

So Bush's low approval ratings were a result of people on the right blaming him for not being conservative enough, his position on amnesty, etc.

Some jerk from the progressive institute (or some such) came on Beck today and said, with a straight face, that none of this scandal matters, since this is isolated to the UK. Becks stand-in (don’t know who it is) did all he could to keep from BUAHAHAHAing in the guy’s face.

Anyone know when Penn State relocated to the UK? Maybe he got it confused with the source of the TOTUS-reader’s cabinet and czars and thought they said “state pen.”

All this means is that his base is pissed off. The same thing happened to GWB. When his ratings really tanked, it was because his supporters were pissed at him.

Spinners always misread or mislead this sort of thing, pretending it represents a shift in the national mood and thinking. I don't think so. It means he's getting it from both ends--the conservatives who never liked him, and now the left who is disappointed/disenchanted with him. Then you get a little movement from the idiots in the middle, but they come and go with the tide.

Partially, yes.

If he doesn't get anywhere on health care, he's going to need some kind of scooby snack to throw the left. Or maybe fate will bail him out and give him a chance to nominate another SCOTUS judge, which will focus his base for a short time.

GWB used to do the same kind of thing. After you make a move that pisses off your base, you find a way to throw em a bone. GWB did that with his stem cell policy, and some other abortion related stuff, as I recall.

It couldn’t happen to a bigger jerk!

The faster the numbers fall the faster his policies FAIL!

That was definitely a big part of it. I would bet you if you go back and look, you'd find his worst numbers (up until the end when they just all out tanked) were at the times when the RIGHT was pissed---Dubai, Amnesty, Harriet Miers, Kennedy education bill, etc. The left always hated him. His numbers on the left couldn't get any lower.

50% Disapprove? No ‘leaners’? No ‘I don’t knows’? there’s always ‘I don’t knows’.

Doesn’t sound like a very scientific poll to me. The raw numbers are probably much much worse.

The Democrats are going to find themselves with a lead anchor around their necks in 2010. I can't wait!

Climategate is opening the door on the scam GW is and those who have purported this fraud are going to get hoisted on their own petard.

It’s probably a lot lower than that. They are always pretending to balance their baloney out.

Likely in the high 30’s then if CNN has it just below 50.
