LONDON (AFP) A top UN panel is to probe claims that British scientists sought to suppress data backing climate change sceptics' views, its head said on Friday ahead of the landmark Copenhagen summit.
Rajendra Pachauri, head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, said the claims -- which led a top expert to leave his post temporarily this week -- were serious and needed to be investigated.
Professor Phil Jones has stood aside as head of the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia, after emails allegedly calling into question the scientific basis for climate change fears were posted online.
Hackers penetrated the centre's network and posted online thousands of emails from researchers, including Jones, ahead of the Copenhagen summit which starts Monday.
The CRU at the university in Norwich, eastern England, is a world-leader in the field.
Pachauri, head of the Nobel Prize-winning UN panel since 2002, told BBC radio: "We will certainly go into the whole lot and then we will take a position on it.
"We certainly don't want to brush anything under the carpet. This is a serious issue and we will look into it in detail," he added.

Does anyone actually think any of these investigations (UN, CRU, Penn State) will be legitimate?
I’m thinking CYA mode for show.
So the United Nations, one of the beneficiaries of the Global Warming Tax and Scam will investigate themselves. I can already guess how this will turn out. Fox discovers no evidence of theft at the chicken coop. Sweet.
And a question for those who have read the emails: Were all 1000 deadly for the Warmists, or was it the typical assortment of "Are you going to lunch with Jerry today?" which seem to clog up my mailbox. I ask because I wonder if the "hacker" (more likely an insider) just grabbed the first thousand emails he found, or if he just got the important ones.
The stupid spell checker thought "and" was a real word.
“Fox discovers no evidence of theft at the chicken coop. Sweet.”
My thoughts exactly. When there’s an INDEPENDENT investigation by folks not associated with CRU, IPCC, UofP, & no vested interests in the GW scam, then maybe I’ll believe the results.
Yea, right. I am sure we can 'trust' their conclusions. /sarc
We don't trust anything the UN does or says.
“UN ‘to probe alleged climate change cover-up’”
You mean the one they propagated? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
And a question for those who have read the emails: Were all 1000 deadly for the Warmists...
And lastly, a plug for two facebook groups ramping up into action:
Now that’s a bad rug!!
Rajendra Pachauri is also a member of The Club of Rome which seeks to establish world governance. He has absolutely no credibility.

Waaaaayyyy back in 1984, WGST-AM radio in Atlanta (not exactly a hotbed of radical, conservative Americanist philosophy) polled its listening audience and asked the question Is the United Nations doing a good job? 81% responded NO!
So, 23 years later, why the hell are we still involved with one of the most corrupt and liberty-threatening organizations ever invented?
Sounds like a question for YOUR congress critters next TOWN HALL MEETING to me.
Some essential history if you are to fully grasp the rot and the plot -- at the core of this thoroughly corrupt gaggle of over-educated morons:

He has absolutely no credibility.

He is indeed a perfect fit for the UN.
Good grief, this clown looks like some homeless guy they dragged into wardrobe and dressed up for the cameras.
If I can be queen for a day, I’d get the US out of the UN and move the UN to Somalia, and that’s just for starters.
