My father was a cop and as a child, when we went to a restaurant or any public place, my father would never sit with his back to the door, always with his back to a wall. Instinct in cops and that was in the 50's...I will not sit in a restaurant with my back to the door either...Just habit... and self defense.......
PS that included weddings and funerals......
