Mitt Romney says that like other presidents, Barack Obama inherited a recession. But the former Massachusetts governor feels unlike his predecessors, Obama has made the recession he inherited worse, not better.
In an op-ed in Wednesday's USA Today, Romney says what he calls the president's inability to "stem" the rise in unemployment should not be a surpise.
"With no experience whatsoever in the world of employment and business formation, he had no compass to guide his path. Instead, he turned over much of his economic recovery agenda to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, themselves nearly as inexperienced in the private sector as he," says Romney.
The op-ed's release comes hours before the president holds a jobs forum at the White House. The nation's unemployment rate stands at 10.2 percent, the highest level in 26 years. November's job report will be released Friday.
In the article, Romney, a Republican presidential candidate in the 2008 election and a possible contender for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, lays out advice he terms a ten point plan to help reenergize the economy.

Did bastard Romney call his RomneyBOTs off their attacks against Gov. Palin? No. He did not.
So who cares what bastard Romney says, or does, now.
Romney is a successful businessman, who also successfully led the Winter Olympics.
Say what you want about his political opinions, but you are just wrong to believe he is incapable of speaking to the economy.
Now, if you read his 10-point plan, and have a comment about it, go right ahead.
Well he did keep his buddies out of jail after they bribed the IOC!
Led the Olympics? You mean he sucked off American taxpayers teat (the ROMNEY WAY)
and tried to take credit for himself (preObama, is he not?)
And let us be historically correct.
ROMNEY TANKED MASSACHUSETTS compared to others states:
Mitt Romney got a "C" rating from CATO.
And that was BEFORE Romney's failure re: Socialized medicine.
"As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace."
I would think that we'd have agreement on 2,3,4,5,6,7, and 10.
Item 1 might be good, the devil's in the details. Certainly freezing the current plan is good -- whether we should spend ANY money on "fixing" it depends on what the specific things are -- tax cuts would be nice.
I like item 9, but I know some conservatives don't support "free trade".
Item 8 might be good, we need to get rid of some regulation, again though the devil is in the details.
And of course, there may be things missing that should be considered.
Or we could refuse to discuss the list, or consider any of the suggestions, because of our personal animus toward the author.
F U Romney.
Here is a link to the Op Ed. I was so busy yesterday that I missed it.

What's that? Looks like he said the right thing, even if he didn't make a whole bullet point about it. It's in the last bullet point.
Regardless of his positions or former positions on conservative hot-button issues, he does know economics, and with the economy the way it is, he can get traction with that.
Repair the stimulus. Freeze the funds that haven't yet been spent and redirect them to immediate, private sector job-creation priorities.
How about we simply repay the money we borrowed in the first place?
And it should have been replaced with a call to end health care reform - which adds just as much uncertainty, if not more, than cap-and-trade that Romney does mention. But, then again, Romney's self-aggrandizing claim to fame is his own health care legislation, so he's not about to criticize the concept of a national bill, is he?
So you believe that government controls economies, and the governors of states are the prime movers in state economies?
Couldn’t be the entire regulatory structure of the far-left Mass. legislature makes Mass. a bad place for business, could it? Nah. Must be the Governor.
And yes, he did successfully oversee the winter olympics. the definition of derangement symptom is being incapable of recognizing any good thing done by those you hate.
Still, my argument was that Romney knew about business, not that he knew how to get a legislature to do his bidding.
I missed that part but basically one can interpret the quote as Romney supports Obamacare without the public option. Considering Obamacare is the number 1 domestic issue Romney making a side comment about just the public option speaks volumes.
I don’t care if HE gets traction or not. I’d just like to be able to discuss economic issues without the mitt-haters refusing to discuss how to fix things simply because Romney mentioned it.
I mean, if Palin would issue a 10-point plan, we could just discuss that. I don’t care who wrote it.
Wow, thank you so much. I’ve NEVER seen That picture before. How could I be here so long at FR and yet NEVER have seen that revealing picture? My entire life is changed now. Thank you.
