Col. Van T. Barfoot, one of the country's last-surviving Medal of Honor winners, is under the gun from his Henrico County community's homeowner association. In a five-paragraph letter to Barfoot that he received yesterday, Barfoot is being ordered to remove a flagpole from his yard.

You misread the citation. He took on Mark VI (6) tanks, not Mark IV (4) tanks. The Mark VI is also known as the Tiger I, and was a huge mf’n tank, that mounted the devastating German 88mm gun.
The Tigers *were* huge. As an aside, Tigers were how my Grandfather found out that the Germans had broken through at The Bulge.
He was scouting ahead for positions for his unit, came around a curve, and wound up nose-to-nose with one. Pop always said that the only thing that saved his life was that his jeep's driver was just a little bit faster than the tank's gunner. :-)
I suspect that either of them were change-your-shorts moments. I can't imagine facing down three. Alone. With only a bazooka.
If anyone learns of a defense fund, please post info and count this old Nam Vet in!
Get the American Legion and the VFW involved maybe they can help.
He achieved a mobility kill on one of the three, which is probably as much as was possible with a bazooka. In fact, if he was actually aiming at the track (which he hit) he was smart. No way would it have penetrated the frontal armour. The other two got away. Citation doesn't say what happened to them.
This man clanks when he walks and this HOA Board wants to take him on about a flagpole???? Hope I get to read how that didn't work out for them...
He needs to take down the flag pole and shove it right up the asses of the board members.Screw the unAmerican covenants.This does not even begin to convey how pissed I am.
The Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005 may be of help to this fine American. In addition, someone may need to file a grievance against the lawyer for the homeowners’ association if he is asserting a frivolous claim, which seems likely. You have to return hardball with hardball with scum lawyers.
I see this flag every day....sounds like California is ahead of the curve.
“got away” is probably an accurate description. Had they continued their charge, TSgt Barfoot probably would have chewed through their hulls with his teeth.
I guess it doesn't matter what happened to them. If they left the field of battle, or were otherwise inconsequential in said field after his engagement, then it was as if he took them out as well.
Either way, he's given more than his fair share for Flag and Country, and this HOA should get a German 88 shoved up their collective asses!
The power-hungry are the most undiluted at that level.
He’s certainly done more than his share to defend this great Nation. He’s a hero and an inspiration to all of us. Or should be, anyway.
The HOA deserves an ass-kicking. In this case, the proper weapons for defeating the enemy are legal filings, subpoenas, and the like. I hope he finds an ally who is as adept with those weapons as he was with firearms and explosives.
The idea that these petty p###ant bureaucrats are bothering this honored veteran makes me wish that Kipling was still around to compose another verse of "Tommy";
O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away";
But it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play,
Guess we can expect the POS in the WH to step in and support him just like he did for his Marxist professor soul mate from Cambridge.../sarc
I think that he moved there to be close to his daughter who was already living there. A 90yo REQUIRES a support structure nearby, speaking from experience of moving to be close to my 92yo father who is Col. Barfoot's compatriot from the 45th ID (Thunderbirds)!
There are not enough raw adjectuives to describe a low life sorry piece of excrement who would order any Medal of Honor winner not to fly his flag ,no matter what he wishes to use as a flagpole.
Ping me too.
Another outrage against our country brought to you by people that are not worthy to lick the soles this mans shoes.
