Critics not invited to White House's 'jobs summit'
Washington Times ^ | 12/2/2009 | Kara Rowland

Facing rising unemployment rates and having seen uncertain results from the stimulus bill, President Obama is hosting a "jobs summit" at the White House Thursday that will be packed with business leaders and economists supportive of White House policies but lacks a diversity of opinion, several analysts say.

Missing from a partial list of attendees released by the White House are the self-proclaimed voices of business - the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business - both of which have been critical of Mr. Obama's proposed health care overhaul.

Confirmed attendees include liberal economists credited with shaping the $787 billion stimulus package, union leaders, environmental advocates and executives from Google and other blue-chip firms.

"He's going to get lots of recommendations to spend more money," said Peter Morici, a professor at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. "These are the very same people who gave us the stimulus package. My feeling is we're not going to get what we need, and that's a complete change in direction on economic policy."

A spokeswoman for the White House would not comment for the record on the format or how the list of participants was drawn up. A full list of attendees is expected to be released Thursday.

I have never in my life seen a batch so firmly committed to drinking their own bathwater.

Typical Tin Pot Dictator ‘methods’. Much like Climategate. No dissenting opinion allowed. Now drink the Koolaid and shut up.

Was I wrong thinking that Cavuto and Charles Payne were going to attend?

Very typical Leftist tactic. Stack the deck, manipulate the debate, hear what you want to hear.

As always, the Left begins with its conclusions, then tries to figure out some sort of plausible path that might justify what they've already decided.

Exactly. You are so right. This is so much like Climategate...no dissenting opinion will be allowed or tolerated.
They aren't looking for solutions for the problems of our country; just reinforcement and adulation of The Won.

So basically this is a gathering of liberals, none of which have created a single job.

Newt said something funny yesterday. He said this childish summit would be equivalent of a 2nd grade class having a mock-up summit with people standing up occassionally saying "I am FOR jobs."

I don’t know about Charles. I think Neal will be there as an anchor, not as a guest.

This “summit” will be a huge joke, a giant waste of time and taxpayer dollars and produce very few, if any, direct jobs.

The only solution is:

Jobs = Substantial, targeted, long term tax cuts for small business.

Since when has the government spending a bunch of money they don’t have encouraged small businesses to hire people?

White House Thursday that will be packed with business leaders and economists supportive of White House policies but lacks a diversity of opinion, several analysts say.

In other words, the entire "meeting" is nothing but a "Photo Op for Jobs - 2009".

"OMG! Doesn't President Oboma and his wife look exquisite? Oh, and where did she get that gorgeous gown? Her shoes are to die for! Quick! Pictures, people! We've got to get pictures!" (click... click, click....click);

Meanwhile, back in the heart of America, the 6 million unemployed are gnawing on their last piece of donated turkey bone - wondering where they'll find enough food to feed their children tomorrow........

Is there a particular reason that FR has the anti-romney stuff on virtually every post?

Romney used to be a pretty liberal Republican, and he changed his ways.

There are plenty of Republicans that are still liberal, why not go after them too?

I only bring this up because its in line with your comment about those who drink their own bathwater.

For the same reason there is an anti-Mormon thread nearly every day.

I think that makes it a lecture instead of a 'summit'

Personally, I hope Charles is there and is allowed to speak. He’s a pretty sharp fellow....with common sense.

Oboma adores the sound of his own voice.

"Welcome to the Jobs Summit 2009. Let me start off by saying I love me. Oh, and I'm glad the rest of you came along for the ride. It makes me look even better."
(the audience then giggles with glee on cue)
