Either MSNBC "Hardball" host Chris Matthews let one slip tonight, or it was an extremely poor choice of words.
Following President Barack Obama's Dec. 1 speech, which he announced his intentions for increasing troop levels in Afghanistan, MSNBC followed with wrap-up coverage of his speech with arguably three of their most prominent on-air personalities - "Countdown" host Keith Olbermann, "The Rachel Maddow Show" host Rachel Maddow and Matthews.
Matthews referred to a scene from "Gone with the Wind" about the American Civil War as an example of "excitement" going into a war. He said that was lacking in the room during Obama's speech.

every now and then some MalStream Media idiot touches upon an important point for reasons (the idiot) is not consciously aware of.
Im sure that all of our fine cadets and officers at West Point are scrupulously careful not to let political opinions impinge upon their military professionalism, and Im also sure that there are some liberals there and also others who may have varied other beliefs or who are simply rather non-political. So West Point is enemy camp for the Obamanation not in any overt sense b/c its not the kind of politicized environment that characterizes so many liberal-left campuses.
Its more that West Point and the great warrior-citizens there exemplify superb professionalism, objectivity, competence, and dedication to defending and upholding the US Constitution.
These are virtues and values which are quite alien to Obama and his leftist clique.
So yes, he could easily feel like it is enemy territory at West Point.... but only b/c he is so alienated from many core American values.

Hey Chrissy - maybe those cadets and older people there know the CIC is a phoney and have no faith in him in executing this war to a success conclusion (read: victory). Those same people also avoid you and the rest of your ilk in the MSM because they know you are propping this guy up.
I think that Crhissy was expecting a response similar to -
Oooh, this is such a blessing to see you, Mr. President! Thank you for taking time out of your day! Oooooh! Precious God! Thank you so much! Ooooh! Your humble correspondent is desperate to own a Kindle 2 reader so he can have access to thousands of books at any time. However, the price is a bit out of my budget! If you could help me to get one, Mr. President, I will continue to slobber over you!" back in FL about a year ago

Well in the oath they swear to defend the US Constitution, the national govt, our sovereignty, and all “legal” orders from a superior officer. They don’t swear any oath of allegiance to the POTUS (or any specific individual) so far as I know........
The Cadet Oath
taken upon entering the United States Military Academy
“I, (your name), do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and bear true allegiance to the National Government; that I will maintain and defend the sovereignty of the United States, paramount to any and all allegiance, sovereignty, or fealty I may owe to any State or Country whatsoever; and that I will at all times obey the legal orders of my superior officers, and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.”

Hey capy,
It's more that they were a captive audience. It was mandatory that the cadets be present. My nephew left to go back on Sunday. His honor is commendable but his parents are sick with worry about this fraudulent president and the effects he will have on their son's future. Mr. Matthews is dog shiite as far as I am concerned. God, however, is righteous and never-changing. He will judge the deceit of this man one day real soon. Chris Matthews will have his Waterloo experience before too long.

Yes, I definitely thought of that. I am retired military myself and, although I have never heard a President speak - I have been in situations where we were told we had to be in an audience to hear a speaker whether we liked it or not. Although I loathe this President and the people who are propping him up - there are not alot of people who can say there were front and center when the CIC gave an address to the nation.
May God Bless your nephew, it is people like him who will continue to make this country great - despite those who work 24 x 7 to undermine it.

It seems like in this case, there isn't a lot of excitement No, but there was an awful lot of excrement.

This is what you would call a “Freudian slip”—an anti-American socialist accidentally admitting what he really thinks, that the defenders of American freedom are “the enemy”. He told the truth as he sees it, he just didn’t mean to.
