Carbon must be sucked from air, says IPCC chief Rajendra Pachauri
The Times ^ | Dec 1 2009 | Robin Pagnamenta, Energy Editor

Posted on 11/30/2009 3:27:14 PM PST by Brugmansian

Dr Pachauri raised the prospect of so-called geo-engineering, whereby carbon dioxide is actively stripped from the atmosphere. A range of techniques have been proposed including seeding artificial clouds over oceans to reflect sunlight back into space, sowing the oceans with iron ore to boost plankton growth and using carbon capture and storage technology to fix emissions from power stations . . .

Dr Pachauri, speaking to The Times on Saturday before travelling to Paris to brief President Sarkozy, suggested that the fossil fuel lobby could be behind a hacking incident last month that led to the publication of thousands of leaked e-mails between climate scientists. He said that it was entirely possible that “corporate interests” had had a hand in the leak . . .

Hey, I’ve done my part: I planted two oaks, a maple, plus two crabapple trees, an apricot tree and and ornamental pear, and got grass to grow in my back yard again.

I know it will work because Mr Drysdale on the Clampets you know the rich hicks that found the oil while shooting possum they moved to the Beverly Hills you know the ones...Granny ,Jed, Elleymay and Al Gore Opps I mean Jethro lol sucker for punishment sorry...
Well what ya think? Jobs n stuff ya know Clean air every breath in LA, Riverside, Holyweed ever body would be slim and trim and we can do it too for the sea otters etc ya know...

This article reads like the script for some grade B, 1950’s science fiction movie.

I have several devices that suck C02 out of the atmosphere, they're self replicating and maintenance free for the most part. In addition they tend to lower my heating and cooling bills and look nice too. (trees)

One of his scenarios gets away from him?

I'd rather get plunged into a warming age than an ice age.

On Foreign Policy:

FOREIGN POLICY is published by the Slate Group, a division of Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive!!!
Joke is on WaPo/Newsweek!!
~~~~~
Foreign Policy used to be the official organ of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
You get one guess as to what side of the political spectrum they reside on.
This guy has the thinking capacity of Bullwinkle J. Moose.
Looks a little like him, too.
This crap ranks right up there with the global cooling wackos in the 1970s wanting to spread crude oil across the arctic snow to trap heat.
I think the more serious proposals specified carbon black rather than crude.
It gives me the distinct impression we'd better leave things alone.
It is only fair. China and Russia race to save the green revolution as it is destroying capitalism. While they take as much carbon fuel as they can worldwide.
I'm certain that the Russians and Chinese will be delighted if the United States shackles itself with this foolishness.
But the truth is that the world will continue to run on hydrocarbons for a long, long time to come.
