There is "virtually no possibility" of a few scientists biasing the advice given to governments by the UN's top global warming body, its chair said today.
Rajendra Pachauri defended the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in the wake of apparent suggestions in emails between climate scientists at the University of East Anglia that they had prevented work they did not agree with from being included in the panel's fourth assessment report, which was published in 2007.
The emails were made public this month after a hacker illegally obtained them from servers at the university.
Pachauri said the large number of contributors and rigorous peer review mechanism adopted by the IPCC meant that any bias would be rapidly uncovered.
"The processes in the IPCC are so robust, so inclusive, that even if an author or two has a particular bias it is completely unlikely that bias will find its way into the IPCC report," he said.
"Every single comment that an expert reviewer provides has to be answered either by acceptance of the comment, or if it is not accepted, the reasons have to be clearly specified. So I think it is a very transparent, a very comprehensive process which insures that even if someone wants to leave out a piece of peer reviewed literature there is virtually no possibility of that happening."

Flashback: Wegman report
"In our further exploration of the social network of authorships in temperature reconstruction, we found that at least 43 authors have direct ties to Dr. Mann by virtue of coauthored papers with him. Our findings from this analysis suggest that authors in the area of paleoclimate studies are closely connected and thus independent studies may not be as independent as they might appear on the surface. ...
It is important to note the isolation of the paleoclimate community; even though they rely heavily on statistical methods they do not seem to be interacting with the statistical community.
Additionally, we judge that the sharing of research materials, data and results was haphazardly and grudgingly done. In this case we judge that there was too much reliance on peer review, which was not necessarily independent. Moreover, the work has been sufficiently politicized that this community can hardly reassess their public positions without losing credibility. ...
The block (cluster) structure is very clear. Michael Mann is a co-author with every one of the other 42. The black squares on the diagonal indicate that the investigators work closely within their group, but not so extensively outside of their group. ... However, it is immediately clear that the Mann, Rutherford, Jones, Osborn, Briffa, Bradley and Hughes form a clique, each interacting with all of the others. A clique is a fully connected subgraph, meaning everyone in the clique interacts with every one else in the clique. ...
The cliques are very clear in this layout. In addition to the Mann-Rutherford-Jones-Osborn-Briffa-Bradley-Hughes clique there are several others that are readily apparent. They are Rind-Shindell-Schmidt-Miller, Cook-DArrigo-Jacoby-Wilson, Folland-Vellinga-Allan-Knight, Stahle-Shugart-Therrell-Druckenbrod-Cleveland, Sangoyomi-Moon-Lall-Abarbanel, and Clement-Zebiak-Cane. The last cluster is somewhat of the miscellaneous cluster of people who had published with Michael Mann, but not much if at all with each other. ...
The social network analysis of authors relations suggests that the independent reconstructions are not as independent as one might guess. Indeed, the matrix outlined in Figure 5.8 illustrates the proxies that are used more than one time in twelve major temperature reconstruction papers. The black boxes indicate that the proxy was used in a given paper. It is clear that many of the proxies are re-used in most of the papers. It is not surprising that the papers would obtain similar results and so cannot really claim to be independent verifications. ...
As statisticians, we were struck by the isolation of communities such as the paleoclimate community that rely heavily on statistical methods, yet do not seem to be interacting with the mainstream statistical community.
The public policy implications of this debate are financially staggering and yet apparently no independent statistical expertise was sought or used."

No kidding...although Baghdad Bob worked for a lesser evil compared to this clown (and I'm only partially being sarcastic).
All these scientists were using the same bogus, massaged, data. Everyone should be made aware of the Wegman Report, as it is damning!
Perhaps they need to read a few more of the emails.....
Excerpts from some of the emails in the HARRY_READ_ME.txt
QUOTE
- But what are all those monthly files? DONT KNOW, UNDOCUMENTED. Wherever I look, there are data files, no info about what they are other than their names. And thats useless ... (Page 17)
- Its botch after botch after botch. (18)
- The biggest immediate problem was the loss of an hours edits to the program, when the network died ... no explanation from anyone, I hope its not a return to last years troubles ... This surely is the worst project Ive ever attempted. Eeeek. (31)
- Oh, GOD, if I could start this project again and actually argue the case for junking the inherited program suite. (37)
- ... this should all have been rewritten from scratch a year ago! (45)
- Am I the first person to attempt to get the CRU databases in working order?!! (47)
- As far as I can see, this renders the (weather) station counts totally meaningless. (57)
- COBAR AIRPORT AWS (data from an Australian weather station) cannot start in 1962, it didnt open until 1993! (71)
- What the hell is supposed to happen here? Oh yeah there is no supposed, I can make it up. So I have : - ) (98)
- You cant imagine what this has cost me to actually allow the operator to assign false WMO (World Meteorological Organization) codes!! But what else is there in such situations? Especially when dealing with a Master database of dubious provenance ... (98)
- So with a somewhat cynical shrug, I added the nuclear option to match every WMO possible, and turn the rest into new stations ... In other words what CRU usually do. It will allow bad databases to pass unnoticed, and good databases to become bad ... (98-9)
- OH F- THIS. Its Sunday evening, Ive worked all weekend, and just when I thought it was done, Im hitting yet another problem thats based on the hopeless state of our databases. (241).
- This whole project is SUCH A MESS ... (266)

BNP leader who believes climate change activists are 'cranks' will be member of European parliament's delegation
Sadly, the very fact that he's the BNP leader has already made him the pariah of the meeting before he even utters one word. The 'token' denier. Set up for ridicule and proof that the sceptics are nutcases (think Stalin sending dissidents to the Gulags or psychiatric 'hospitals'). It's all orchestrated down to the very smallest detail.
Thanks, I had forgotten about him. Well, that’s one.

this is exactly the problem...NO CREDIBILITY. Why? Look at how this person seeks to diminnish the egregious problem. It was NOT just one or two. They support the lie by trying to dimminish it. They can not be trusted. They are complicit in a grab for outrageous amounts of global power and dominance and our money. ESPECIALLY US TAXPAYER money. I resent the absolute dickins out of these liars and theives of liberty.
