'Inaccurate' Christmas Carols Have Turned Birth of Jesus Into A Pantomime Story, Claims Bishop

Crusading: Right Reverend Nick Baines, the Bishop of Croydon, believes carols make the story of Christ seem fictitious [Pic in URL]
Popular Christmas carols are 'nonsense' and have turned the birth of Jesus Christ into a fairy story, according to a respected bishop. In a new book on the festive period, The Right Reverend Nick Baines, the Bishop of Croydon, claims some of the nation's favourite carols are 'embarrassing' and 'inaccurate'.
He says the songs encourage people to believe that the story of Christ's birth is as fictitious as Father Christmas or a pantomime story.
Carol lovers, however, defended the traditional songs and say they help people to look beyond a 'commercialised' Christmas. The bishop was particularly scornful of Away In A Manger - a popular feature of nativity plays - which cannot be sung 'without embarrassment'.

The dude needs to lighten up...
And a Merry & Blessed Christmas to you, too, padre.
Well, that bishop sure looks like an overly anal-retentive twit.
The Anglican Church in England has certainly become an embarrassment in recent years to the point of becoming irrelevant. I suppose in some way they might be trying to ingratiate themselves with their soon-to-be new masters the Muslims. In any event to watch the formerlly “Great’’ Britain prostrate itself on the altar of political correctness is disgusting.
Yes- I would extend your comment to the Episcopal and Lutheran Churches as well in the US. They have in one word become “irrelevant”
irreverent
That bishop needs to get his head out of his a$$.
--- Uhhh, OK, I can go with that.
Yeah, well, I kind of thought that THE WHOLE POINT was that Jesus was NOT a normal baby...
