>> the NY23 GOP meltdown. In retrospect, which is a lot like hindsight, Ms. Scozzafava was not the best hope for North Country Republicans and her selection by a handful of county chairs was another example of the dangers of making big decisions in the rarified air of so called executive session. <<

Nah, can't be. Newt Gingrich and the "abolish the 17th amendment" crowd know for a FACT that "locally elected officials" have state interests in mind and will do a FAR better job than the voters themselves when it comes to choosing who represents us in Washington (government, of course, should be choosen by the enlightened few). We must NOT dare question "local authorities". I mean with a track record of "local officials" selecting people like Scozzyfava, Roland Burris, Paul Kirk, Ted Kaufman, etc., who could doubt that premise? We need to have those kinds of people sent to Congress from ALL 50 states. Somehow it must be "conservative" to want bigger, more powerful, and more intrusive state powers, or at least what "the founders" wanted (nevermind the fact that "the founders" would be applauded if they could arrive in the 21st century and see who actually runs state governments today)

Dede Scozzafava won around 12% of the vote. Why does she warrant an itnerview with a major network?
