WINDERMERE, Fla. -- Golfer Tiger Woods was seriously injured when he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree outside of his Isleworth home early on Friday morning, officials said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Woods was seriously injured and taken to Health Central Hospital. The Orange County Fire Department confirmed that a patient was taken to Health Central, but would not confirm that the patient was Woods.

Woods was driving a 2009 black Escalade, FHP said. He hit a fire hydrant outside of his home and a tree outside his neighbor's home.

FHP said the crash is still under investigation.

Something fishy, wife broke out back window with golf club? How convenient she just happened to have one handy, low speed accident why could she just open the drivers door? Seems to me maybe she was chasing him with the club in some domestic violence issue.... 2 am maybe he was having an awkward dream and talked in his sleep.... by the time he saw her coming at him with the Golf club he took off running and in his rush hit the hyrant and tree.....

HMMMM...

You have no sense of humor. I made a comment similar to Zoeller’s in the thread on the State Dinner earlier this week.

“So this chick was a 9/11 widow.”

I read that it was her fiance, not husband.

My theory - he was rushing out at 2:30 AM to get in line at Best Buy to get a great deal on a laptop or Xbox 360.

(With apologies to William Blake)

Tiger! Tiger! Burning bright
Did go cheating in the night,
What immortal hand of eye
Could slice thy handsome symmetry?

So what distant skanky thighs
Caught the corner of thine eyes?
In what hotel dare you aspire?
Which golf glove dare seize the fire?

And what sneaking, lying art
Could twist a loyal Swedish heart?
And when that heart you did break,
What dread anger did you shake?

Why the 9-iron? Why this pain?
In what brothel was thy brain?
What the swing? What dread grasp
Dare your Caddy rear door clasp?

When you dashed down driveway lane,
And watered bloody in your pain,
Wiped your eyes, the hydrant to see?
Did you even see that tree?

Tiger! Tiger! Burning bright
Did go cheating in the night
Twas her rejected hand or eye
Who sliced and hooked thy symmetry.

This had nothing to do with dirty balls, lost balls, shaft flex, shaft length, or bad lies.

2:30 AM Thanksgiving night, he was probably board and hungry, going out on a pizza run and the latest National Enquirer.

This is normal behavior for Tiger fan boys. They idolize him. This is often seen in Obama voters and Michael Jordan fans. Maybe some old Mickey Mantle fans.

They say crap like “golf would be nothing without Tiger” and other nonsense like that. They are not true golf fans because golf is bigger than Tiger.

I do not dislike they guy but his fans and the sports media (Golf Channel) act like he is the only player that counts which is incredibly insulting to the other professional golfers. The other golfers are not crazy about it but he does help TV ratings which helps the purses.

I like Phil and lots of other guys on the PGA tour but I do not idiolize him. People should not idolize anyone. Well maybe Reagan. ;-)

The other things is the “Tiger is the greatest golfer ever.” Maybe but it is yet to be seen. I get sick of current players being called the greatest when prior players may have been better. The jury is still out on Jack versus Tiger. People forget just how good and dominating Jack was. Jack crushed the ball with the old equipment and his short game was crazy good. I think Jack must have liked a few cold ones back at Ohio State when he was a fat kid/prodigy.

Ben Hogan winning 6 majors after he was almost killed in a head on in 1949 with a Greyhound bus may be the greatest achievement ever. His body was shattered and he played with pain but had a grand slam and a ticker tape parade in NYC in 1953.

“...no way I would live there.”

You’re right...with all that money, why there? Those homes are gorgeous, but next to those powerlines? I’m surprised.

Did you see that? Those are like long haul major power lines and major pylons. His house is within 200 yards of it. Those houses are worth about $4 to 5 million minimum. No way I am living near those powerlines.

It looks like they are going one of the golf course holes. I would not play on a course with those powerlines overhead.

The house was probably free but still. The guy who owns those developments lost about a billion when Bear Stearns failed. He is a Brit named Joe Lewis. If I were Tiger, I would be at the Jupiter Island home. If he pulled that stunt in his SUV there he might end up in the intracoastal.

Can you give a source for the rumor?

Tiger Woods' wife 'smashed car window'

10:38 AEST Sat Nov 28 2009

Tiger Woods and his wife were involved in a domestic dispute before the golf icon crashed his luxury SUV outside his home, according to reports.

Gossip website TMZ.com reported the couple were arguing shortly before the accident at about 2.25am Friday morning.

It comes as rumours surface online that the incident may be connected to an article in the December issue of National Enquirer that claims Woods has been cheating on his partner Elin Nordegren.

The tabloid report alleges Woods had an affair with Rachel Uchitel, a woman who previously made headlines by saying she was involved in a relationship with Bones star David Boreanaz.

A spokesperson for Woods reportedly confirmed he met Uchitel but denied they were having an affair.

Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor told The Associated Press on Friday that Nordegren told officers she was in the house when she heard the accident and came outside.

She then used a golf club to smash out the Cadillac's back window to provide assistance.

Woods and his wife both reportedly confirmed to police that they had been having a domestic disagreement before the crash.

Saylor said officers found Woods lying in the street with his wife hovering over him.

Police said the golf champion hit a fire hydrant and part of a tree and was in and out of consciousness when his officers arrived.

He says Woods had cuts on his lips and blood in his mouth and that his officers gave Woods first aid until fire rescue came about 10 minutes later.

Saylor says his officers do not believe alcohol was involved but early reports said charges against Woods were pending.

Woods lives with his former model wife and two children but was not carrying any passengers when the accident occurred.

The golf champion recently returned home after visiting China and Australia this month.

Amid a circus of fans and media at Melbourne's Kingston Heath, Woods triumphed in the Australian Masters by two strokes from Australia's Greg Chalmers.

It was the golfer's debut win on Aussie soil and his first appearance in a decade.

Tiger Woods: Injuries Caused by Wife, Not SUV

Posted Nov 28th 2009 12:02AM by TMZ Staff

Tiger Woods did not suffer facial lacerations from a car accident. They were inflicted by his wife, Elin Nordegren — according to a conversation Woods had Friday after the accident.

Tiger Woods

Tiger has yet to be formally interviewed by the Florida Highway Patrol — that should happen this afternoon. But we’re told Tiger had a conversation Friday — with a non-law enforcement type — detailing what went down before his Escalade hit a fire hydrant.

We’re told he said his wife had confronted him about reports that he was seeing another woman. The argument got heated and, according to our source, she scratched his face up. We’re told it was then Woods beat a hasty retreat for his SUV — but according to our source, Woods says his wife followed behind with a golf club. As Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club.

We’re told Woods became “distracted,” thought the vehicle was stopped, and looked to see what had happened. At that point the SUV hit the fire hydrant and then hit a tree.

We’re also told Woods had said during the conversation Friday he had been taking prescription pain medication for an injury, which could explain why he seemed somewhat out of it at the scene.
