WINDERMERE, Fla. -- Golfer Tiger Woods was seriously injured when he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree outside of his Isleworth home early on Friday morning, officials said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Woods was seriously injured and taken to Health Central Hospital. The Orange County Fire Department confirmed that a patient was taken to Health Central, but would not confirm that the patient was Woods.

Woods was driving a 2009 black Escalade, FHP said. He hit a fire hydrant outside of his home and a tree outside his neighbor's home.

FHP said the crash is still under investigation.

Update: Authorities: Tiger Woods hurt in Fla. car crash

Why do your kids love him - this guy is not a class act and is known for his foul mouth and temper tantrums.

Can you imagine what would have happened if he hit a little kid with this club?

He should be thrown out of the PGA

Rache Uchitel was on the cover of the NYT after 9/11 holding pic of missing boyfriend/fiancee. Grandparents used to own a famous nightclub.

Seems to be a nightclubbing trustfund baby still chasing her 15 minutes of fame. Not sure I’d believe anything she claims.

Guess it depends on how much enthusiasm you’re backing up with ;-)

The reverse gear has a high ratio, that means that the reverse speed is limited to something around 10 mph even if you redline the engine. Regardless of the enthusiasm, it's impossible to go faster than the car allows. Perhaps someone who owns an Escalade will tell how fast it can go in reverse. This car's safety is rated five stars out of five (driver front.)

30mph into an immovable object is devastating.

I've seen fire hydrants give, but not large trees.

Hope he's OK. Dang good golfer, and an overall decent guy.

“Not “caddie”, “Caddie”. Sheesh...”

And I referred to his “caddy” as a “caddie” in one of my posts! I’ll probably hear about that from you also!

So you are the FR Spelling Police?

Forgive us. It’s been a long time since I won spelling bees in grade school.

...his wife is naturally beautiful and wholesome looking, ...

Yes she is but the old saying is: "no matter how many beautiful women are out there there's always some guy tired of putting up with their crap."

I also hope, while I’m hoping, he doesn’t break Jack Nicklaus’s “most majors won” record.

Ditto that for my DH. He hates the thought of Jack's record being broken.

Between the tabloid reports of an affair, and the foreign markets tumbling early this morning, I suspect he might have been under considerable stress. I believe he had a sizable investment in Dubai, and I’ve seen recent headlines of it not continuing to do very well as an understatement.

I wonder what that has done to Tiger’s bottom line.

If you were happy and content all the time you wouldn’t have the drive necessary to stay on the top of such a mentally demanding sport. The Phil Mickelson’s of the world are the rare exception to the Nice Guys Finish Last rule.

You know what they say about guys that throw clubs don’t you.

Having tossed a Mashie or two myself, I don't personally care what they say about guys that throw clubs.
