It is my contention that she could well be. The enemy within, and all that...
“I’ve read every post in this thread so far and you represent a singular MINORITY.”
Exactly. My only point, and one that I suspect may get me banned after nearly a decade of membership, is that I am a conservative who dissents on this occasion from the majority view.
I believe that there are tens or even hundreds of thousands of others who depend upon this site, as posters or lurkers, who don’t buy into every aspect of the conservative bedrock. I defer to Jim Robinson as to whether he wants to turn them away to the dozens of other sites that are every bit as conservative but in my opinion not as good and not with the potential that FR has to influence public opinion.
I dissent to his original post, which is my prerogative. If Jim Robinson intends to stifle dissent on this site, which seems to me what he is saying, then of course that is his prerogative. But he should be a big enough person to make his reasons clear; and he should do everyone a service and be less vague than in his original post regarding the nature of dissent that he will and won’t abide.
I really don’t think he wants to become a thought policeman, though, and I will be disappointed if he takes that line.
Sean Hannity? I turned him off back when he started pimping for Giuliani. Take him off the list. He shouldn’t be there.
“Sean Hannity? I turned him off back when he started pimping for Giuliani. Take him off the list. He shouldnt be there.”
It’s Jim Robinson’s list from the front page of FR. LOL
Thanks for proving my point.
And just how much of that is due to their reading the tea leaves of Tea Party opposition, and of conservatives like ourselves, that tell them that their tenure is very insecure?
Just how much of that is due to overt fear over their reelection, for being RINOs in the first place?
The idea that taking a moderate position and electing Rinos advances conservatism is ludicrous.
Let them start their own damn forums and take their muddled mushy minions&mindsets with them .. yet we are told again and again,, we need them to win.
The ugly truth, They are the reason we have lost so many elections the last few cycles. Their rudders are warped and they have sent us into the weeds repeatedly, and they know who they are. A few of them are gone and many more will follow the next few cycles. Good.
Well said HH !!
I agree....
JVeritas, on the surface that sounds reasoned. Then you realize you could make the same exact statement about McCain.
I believe there are core issues that can be addressed in the most leftist of states, that will win the support of people across the spectrum.
Ronald Reagan did it. I think we sell these states short. I think we sell ourselves short if we don’t put up quality people who represent Conservatism. If we wish to sell our brand, we need to put it out there in public at the top levels. If we don’t, we’ll never win converts, and turn these states around.
I don’t believe in surrender. I’m not saying that’s what you’re about here either. I certainly do believe it’s what the party is about.
Palin will not run for president in 2012.
But, if we’re gonna beat the hell out of them when they misbehave, doesn’t it just make good sense to praise or at least acknowledge their good behavior?
She told you that? Wow.
3 years is hopeful. If the GOP doesn't coalesce around a leader with strong conservative credentials, the election will still be a tossup. Keep in mind the criminal's intention on the amnesty issue. The criminal and the rest of the Democrats know how public opinion is going against them. The amnesty issue is being seen as a trump card to be played.
“I’ll post elsewhere if I feel politically evangelistic, which I seldom do. I like strategizing victory with fellow warriors and not converting the ignorant or disinterested. I do that enough already.”
I appreciate your thoughtful response, and I am grateful. As you can tell, I feel passionately that JR is taking too strong a position in his post; and yet I feel that I have ceded from the outset that his position is defensible. It all depends upon the type of site he wants.
I just think that to turn folks away who hunger for what is available here is a huge, huge mistake.
I say this from personal experience. I don’t always buy the conservative line. I sometimes post my disagreements. I get trashed by most people; and sometimes a temperate voice explains to me why I may be wrong. As often as not, I end up coming around to the temperate argument. I think FR is a great vehicle for discussion and for evangelism.
I am merely sad that JR seems to be empowering the screamers and turning away the temperate (but more impactful) voices.
I question tactics, not principles.
It can be fun to bat them around. :-)
Cedric understands all things.
Cedric feels no grief.
...crap...walked into that one I did! :-) LOL!
