A creepy string of calf mutilations in southern Colorado has a rancher and sheriff's officials mystified.
Four calves were found dead in a pasture just north of the New Mexico state line in recent weeks. The dead calves had their skins peeled back and organs cleared from the rib cage. One calf had its tongue removed.
But rancher Manuel Sanchez has found no signs of human attackers, such as footprints or ATV tracks. And there are no signs of an animal attack by a coyote or mountain lion. Usually predators leave pools of blood or drag marks from carrying away the livestock.
Two officers from the Costilla County Sheriff's Office have investigated the mutilations but say they don't know what's killing the calves.
"There's nothing really to go by," said Sanchez, who's ranched for nearly 50 years. "I can't figure it out."
A spokesman for the sheriff's office told The Pueblo Chieftain that investigators doubt a person butchered the calves because there is no blood at the scene.

Why would aliens travel billions of miles to skin a calf? Almost as bad as that movie Signs where they traveled millions of light years then couldn’t get in the house because they put boards over the windows. And they had to use crop circles for navigation after travelling across the galaxy. I can hear the aliens now “oh no, they have boards, what are we going to do?”
Past cattle mutilations proved to be the work of government pathologists checking the effects of nerve gas releases from Dugway Proving Grounds if I recall correctly.
Because insurance companies will cover undetermined causes of death, not natural causes/predation.
Busy night *ping*
THANKS THANKS.
Just the stuff predators and scavengers would go for first. But some rancher doesn't think it was predators so it must be aliens. Yeah, whatever.
We can always count on the thoroughly uninformed to throw a bunch of ingnorant non-sequiturs into the thread.
Sigh.
They were also hydrophobic and came to a planet that is two thirds water without bringing a rain coat.

I know Mejico *seems* a billion miles away culturally, but it’s just across our southern border. Srsly. And those aliens are hongry after that swim and/or hike.
At least partly not so.
Some whistle blowers have asserted that the critters do about half of them and government personnel do about half of them.
In the beginning, it was all the critters doing.
There are lots of speculations and assertions about what the critters are up to in the project. They range from tissues needed for sustaining their lives to monitoring pollution and radiation effects to tissues needed for cloning humans or critters etc. etc. etc.
We did not have the technology to pull such stunts until the critters gave it to us.
And happened to go after a house where a little girl has a habit of leaving glasses of water lying around - stupidest movie ever.
Couldn’t have been aliens. They’re all busy working at the jobs that Americans won’t do.
Exactly! Small predators, possums, skunks, rats etc. Birds peck their eyes and a$$ holes out too.
Good grief, how long have these ranchers been ranching any way?
“Just the stuff predators and scavengers would go for first. But some rancher doesn’t think it was predators so it must be aliens. Yeah, whatever. “
Exactly. People need to wise up and quit being played the fool on this stuff.
I think its occult activity...
Predators don’t take only the internal organs, removed with surgical precision, and leave no blood pools or tracks.
These cases have been baffling ranchers and investigators for decades now, and there are thousands of them on record, all with the same hallmarks.
I’m not advocating that aliens are doing it. I’m just saying that these cases are completely unlike ordinary predation, and have no rational explanation.
